This is how I wear my PHB. As I said above I've ordered smaller sizes because I really would like to wear them as a shirt instead of an overshirt. Gotta admit that the overshirt style has been working great during the winter. I think the shirt vs. overshirt expectation is the primary confusion between customers and Gustin (who seem to be on the fence lol). Yeah, I have three or four shirts that work like that for me. Big enough to wear over a lighter weight button-down somewhat like a shirt-jac but not so large that they're obviously outerwear and look silly if worn alone with just a tee or undershirt. If I ever spring for a Gustin workshirt, that is how I'd aim to size it. Which to me is just the default because that is what I've always considered a workshirt to be. But I respect the fact that I am a curmudgeon, and other guys are happy to blur the line between fashion and workwear where I am not. Which is totally fine. As long as those other guys realize they are bad people and their opinions are bad and they should get new ones. Then we're cool. Which would explain why BB's G workshirt sleeves are pretty wide.

It never ceases to amaze me why people who don't even own a gustin workshirt have to make negative comments towards someone with a concern. They just can't resist themselves.

It never ceases to amaze me why people who don't even own a gustin workshirt have to make negative comments towards someone with a concern. They just can't resist themselves. It's when a person makes continual negative comments about garments they hated when they opened the package, and instead of shipping back or selling, they document terrible care decisions as additional means by which to malign a garment they chose to keep. That results in harsh judgment from others, whether or not they own a workshirt. Having both the shirts that middleage hates, I still believe that he's overly harsh on them. Yes, the first run is a harder means by which to judge, but having received the second shirt in the same fit, he's headed down the exact same road with it, and I'm not excited to hear about the sequel in the same manner as the first. The first time wasn't a useful dialog, and I have no reason to believe this time will be any different since it has started in the exact same way. "Gustin shirt is terrible, so I've done all the things you don't do to deal with raw fabric, and gotten terrible results. Woe is me, and terrible is Gustin." Since it then seems to spill into every thread about any sort of shirt, and that has also already started, totally not excited to hear these impressions. This is the first negative impression anyone has posted of the wabisabi workshirt. Suddenly it's a pilling, low quality fabric in need of extra care, pill shavers, and Gustin has ruined yet another thing by the quality of their design. Sorry if I'm not interested in this new version of the story. Especially when phrased in such a way, and handled in such a manner to seemingly goad an otherwise positive population of shirt owners.

I wish there was a way to exclude certain people's posts from appearing in your feed, a filter of sorts. Personally, I'm not enjoying the overtly negative, unproductive posts full of grammatical errors, and a lack of punctuation. If there were a couple of them they'd be easy to ignore, but the current theme seems pervasive.

Damn you autocorrect.

...posts full of grammatical errors, and a lack of punctuation... i'm absolutely guilty here. perhaps too much writing/editing in 'real life' generates some laziness in my 'forum life'. apologies to all offended parties.

Agreed. I'd say the Lawless shirt has cleaner lines and looks better on bigblack as a fashion piece, but if it was me I'd prefer the Gustin fit for actually working in. Both look very good and very durable from where I'm sitting, so it's nice to have some slightly different options depending on what the customer wants for the fit and function of his shirt. I am looking at the picture on my phone and I just felt the LD shirt looks better fit on bigblack than the G shirt. Btw, I think it us a running joke from some other members here but I don't think anyone beside DigDug is really wearing G workshirt for actual heavy duty job. I don't think it is the intention for G either on making a real work shirt. @wils; I've been wearing my GUSTIN IxI WS at my shop every day pretty much since I received it so DigDug is not the only one fwiw.

If I am not replying to all these messages including yours this morning, I had no plan to even mention the work shirt until my tailor takes in both waist and length. So, please don't accuse me on dragging this topic. Not interested and not planned to. For everyone, I don't mind all those personal attacks and frankly, I have nothing against anyone here. However, I cannot understand why people can get "angry" because some stranger talks about a "shirt". I can understand religious or political discussions can get heated because they can tie to the core/value of a person but angry/defensive over a $150 shirt doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I am from a different culture. We don't get angry about discussing clothes. Btw, I am not all work up about the Wabisabi work shirt this time. Unlike the HSWS, nice fabric and I can make it work. Just going to cost me more money.

I'm interested in what a well worn double indigo looks like. I really like mine but it hasn't been in the rotation very often due to the weather. Easily my favorite! Pics from anybody would be great!

I don't get it...must be an inside joke sort of thing. He's posted before, right? Didn't some chuckler made a remark about his hair. The only reason i remeber this is because it's always a strange thing to finally see the person behind all the posts.
Anyhow, no big deal, but im sure that pics would be appreciated by everyone.

Got a ship notice for the Italy Brown Black ws. I know it's going to be a bit big as my Postal HB was as well. I think I'm going to make a tailor project out of it as I love the fabric...at least from the pics.
Sunrise it didn't sell when I sold my Wabi Sabi. Thinking there is some potential there though. Sometimes I have pangs of regret over selling the Sake bomber but you know what they say...kill your darlings lol....

I can probably take some pics of it this weekend if you're interested.

much appreciated exophobe, but I think mine will show up Saturday at the latest. Good to hear the fabric looks good "out in the wild".

Ok, pics comparing Med, Large, and Large Slim work shirts. I'm personally happy with all of them. I'm 6' 180lb, wearing 34 straight pants (the Oxblood 2s I dyed, still trying to get a reasonable pic of them w/my phone) in the photo for reference. Sorry about bad lighting, took these in a hurry while we prep for Super Bowl party :-) Classic Large Postal Herrinbone, washed once worn ~15 times: Slim Large Cone 101, worn once: Classic Medium Zimbabwe Light, zero wears (yet!): My feelings: - Classic Large is big enough that I only really wear it as an overshirt. That said, I'd find a way to wear the PHB denim even if it was literally a dress.
- Slim large has the body of a medium, but slightly longer. I like the fit and extra length, but if it doesn't shrink after the first wash I'll be a little sad.
- Medium is the shortest, and the smaller shoulders/sleeves weren't a dealbreaker for me. I'm probably still safe even after some shrink in the wash.
- Medium and slim large have about the same body width
- Washed classic large and unwashed medium have about the same length
- Of the three, I think I'm going with Classic Medium for the future.

Classic Med looks best to me. Check measurements to make sure they are in spec or else it can get confusing.

Classic medium I vote as the best fit for a shirt. If you are wearing one as an over shirt the large slim.

felizuno that was beyond helpful. Thank you so much for those pics and the write up. You have definitely helped me make up my mind, classic Medium it will be for me. Now I have to decide on if I want the GUSTIN Postal HB WS or the Taylor Stitch striped Indigo WS.

Indigo Ticking Stripe Shirt looks beautiful. I'd definitely suggest that over Postal HB.
