Mine are in the mail also. Since it was sent 2 day, I don't find shipping cost bad at all. The last item I shipped 2 day to SF was about 13.00

Marked as shipped yesterday but hasn't left yet. This is a mystery Grab Bag. 23oz or 26oz ?Will they be to spec and will there be any flaws? The latter being things we are always worried about.

Oh good, at least i'm not alone in that. It's marked as shipping label created, but doesn't seem to have left the building. No additional info.

This is a brilliant competitive strategy by Gustin.. maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but I can see us comparing the flaws in these "seconds" and flaws in LD's product that pass QC. This raises the market expectations for LD quality, at least among the G/LD crossover crowd.
If LD doesn't adapt, quickly, they'll be edged out. 23-26oz denim for $85, shipped immediately, with no question about if you'll get it. Sure there will be discussion about the flaws, but there'll be a heckuva lot more sympathy toward G "seconds" vs LD "firsts."

That's true there may be more sympathy to inexpensive but flawed seconds from G compared to LD's flawed firsts. But I don't think there's any long term competitive strategy. I heard somewhere that G will not do additional runs of 23+ denim again. It was simply too hard to work that heavy material and they sewed up small and with more flaws than lighter weight denim. They had a lot of problems. They'd have to change their cut patterns for the material and have sewers that are skilled with the material. I suspect they just drop it from the line up; therefore no long term competition. The $70 grab bag is really a quick close out of the seconds and returns.

This looked like a one time blowout.

I grabbed the last 33 slim. I should have it by Friday if they ship it out tomorrow. I'm also waiting on my classic large shirt that I got from the shirt grab bag. Hopefully it's not an Oxford.

Other than as a source of near constant amusement over glasses of Whiskey, I doubt very much whether Gustin give Lawless a second thought.

I just received mine, and they're the 26s. Wow oh wow this thing is heavy. I'm gonna measure them up later but if they fit, I'm probably going to cry tears of joy.

There was maybe a week where we were all the beneficiaries of the Gustin reaction to LD hitting the market (October/November 2014), and G responded with the comparable prices. Since then, it has probably been exactly what Julian referenced.

They arrived today. 2 pairs will probably work. 1 pair is definitely too big and I'll have to sell. G threw in a bottle opener with each pair.
How do I know whether I received the 23 or 26 oz? They aren't clearly marked and didn't have any external labels. There is an inside tag that says #118.
Also only the 1 pair is clearly off sized - it's measurements are a little big all around for a 32 and the size tag reads 36 (so that's a flaw). The 2 pairs that work are basically within spec. Maybe half an inch longer inseam, or 1/4" narrower cuff, etc. I think one pair had a rivet problem that popped, was repaired, and then sold to me. Otherwise, at first glance, I don't see any significant flaws. Pretty happy so far.

The bottle opener is for beer because we'll be unable to walk or sit down in them unless we're drunk
