Regret #1: Wish GUSTIN offered the Beasts in a 40 as they sewed small. Regret #2: Not ordering the GUSTIN Postal 'Boners for me (got for my son). Regret #3: Putting trust into LD. Regret #4: Putting so much time into talking about this stuff Old26 ciano has a green h'bone fabric that looks pretty interesting. i think you should go all out and have him make a pair of those for you.

It's the same as the herringbone from gustin "lovingly" dubbed "Kermit" by members here. Great fabric (super-soft after washing, which also mutes the green a tiny bit), but I'd recommend the other green he has over this, unless subtlety isn't your forté.

most of my straights have been converted over to slims.. Except the Slub Browns which are the smallest sewing jeans from Gustin I've ever had. Sized up and stuck with straight. They fit like a slim now..
Bought the grey silks 3 times - one failed delivery, one wrong size, the last one was the right size but just realized didn't care for the fabric. Too loose to cuff. Too weird to wear otherwise for me.
regret hemming my cone bluexblack too short because they're awesome. Regret washing my greyxblacks in the machine because now I got weird creases everywhere..
bought several button shirts in large, felt they were too billowy, so bought them in medium. But they're too tight in the shoulders/arms/chest. SIGH.

Definitely regret the Japan Heather Gray's. Absolutely nothing like the stock photos... They're way darker and the heather / marled / flecked / texture seen online is basically invisible. I was thinking about cold soaking them, and sun drying them for a long time, to try to fade them fast, but I'm really new at this so I don't really know what I'm talking about... anyone have any suggestions as to how I could get the texture to stand out??

I don't think sunning them will work. I'd hot wash with detergent (but be careful about shrink). I'd think getting the starch and some color out would help.

DigDug thanks for the tip! I've lost a little weight so I'm not too worried about the shrink. Just any ol' detergent, or does it matter which kind?

DigDug thanks for the tip! I've lost a little weight so I'm not too worried about the shrink. Just any ol' detergent, or does it matter which kind? Any laundry detergent. this is not typical of what a denim head would do. But your not going for sick fades, your more interested in texture. I'd think washing (hand wash in a tub, DO NOT put in a washing machine) would raise some of the texture by making a little shrink. Be careful if you put them in the dryer, you could end up with a very short pair of jeans (I'd air dry).

tashdaddyYou don't need much detergent. Fill the tub so the jeans will be submerged, then add a table spoon of detergent. Soak the jeans laying flat, let them sit 10-15 min, rub your hand over them to agitate, drain, then soak 5-10min in cool clear water to rinse. Air dry. You may lose 1/2" of length. This hasn't happened on all my jeans but most.

why no washing machine? I wash mine on the gentlest cycle and have had no issues. What is machine washing doing that I'm not aware of?

Since I started to lower the spin cycle to lowest amount I have never had any creasemarks. Maybe Im just lucky, but it seems to work.

Washing machines are fine. As long as they are front loaders with my agitator in the middle. Inside out and gentle.
