This is why I love Iron Heart even more now and have no problem paying the money I do for their products:
So I woke up this morning to several emails from Paula Padmore at Iron Heart UK. The first one was to inform me that they had noticed a small QC issue with several of the shirts on this run, specifically in my size. the checks on the rear yoke were not aligned properly. Paula attached a picture pointing out the flaw. She said I can get a refund and cancel the order, or take the shirt and accept the flaw.
I then scroll through my emails and see another one from Paula regretting to inform me that Haraki has decided to do a full recall on all shirts made in this fabric (Work Shirt and Westerns) and then I see a third email with my refund. I'm bummed about this because I loved the fabric and it was the only run they were doing with it, it will not be back. At the same time I'm very happy with the fact that Haraki and IH hold their products to a standard of quality that is unmatched IMO.
Yes, Iron Heart products are not cheap but you know that you will receive an immaculately constructed product of the highest quality for your hard earned money. I was a fan before this experience but now I love the IH brand even more.
Oh...and btw...this is all happening on a Sunday! These guys shouldn't even be working today.

Remember when ickes made his first IH post? Those were the days. Not only are you paying a premium for the product you are paying for the overall service, experiance and well frankly import taxes from japan to UK/USA (self edge). When I bought a suit from Macy's I knew what I was getting. When I bought a suit from a small boutique that sold Hickey Freeman I knew what I was paying for and I got only the best. Sometimes good companies you gotta pay for.

This lines up better than most $100 shirts on the Internet. Even though it's somewhere around three times that price, it's still kind of upsetting how refreshing it is to see a manufacturer take responsibility for issues that most manufacturers would consider business as usual.

That's what I was thinking. If a Gustin shirt lined up that well it would be cause for a parade.....straight ticker tate middle of Times Square. Just another reason I like buying from Japanese brands. They hold themselves to such a high standard.

FYI, Paula informed me that this fabric was chosen and pushed for Haraki to produce by IH UK and that she chose the color combination herself. She said they might actually consider running it again but if they do it will be much later this year.
She also told me that there are "lots of heavyweight flannels lined up for fall/winter". That's what I'm talking bout: )

IH shirts are some of my fave shirts. My single criticism is that some - but not all - of their shirts have outsized/oversized collars...perhaps it's a Japanese sartorial preference. Dunno. Actually had some of my IH shirt collars 'reduced' by the tailor. Exceptional shirts, imo...yeah, my single criticism.

ickes did you send yours back? This is The One for me. Hoping I'll be able to jump on this when it becomes available. No I did not send this back because I never received it. This is the shirt that Haraki cancelled at the very last minute and completely recalled every single one after they had already been put up for sale. He recalled them because he found a bunch whose patterns did not match up along the back yoke. So IH refunded my card and sent me an apology email.
However this is the one they are releasing again later this year or early 16 in both western and work shirt versions. IHUK only fyi so be prepared to save your dough.

ickes Yeah, just read up on it. Ill have a hard time deciding if I should just get the Cookie Monster Blue/Black (and wash it a couple dozen times to Mute the color) or hold out for this. I'm thinking it will be hard to get my hands on one considering the damand and the notoriety. Good for you, you'll be getting first dibs on one. They should send you an email asking if you want it again before it goes up for sale.

Nope, it's one Paula & I dreamt up. When I commission a product, it is normally not sold in Japan unless Haraki pleads enough (like the 25 ounce jeans)......There are a slew of UHF's happening this year, that will not be sold in Japan....
