Misunderstanding! Im asking for the Type-II jacket. The sawtooth I had to give up since its not available in my size, i will just get the 7001 instead but neeeeds a flathead jacket aswell...I really do need it its not fooling or anything, i have a strong need for a new type-2 and I want TFH one. Im so lucky, its like i *have* to do this purshase...its really out of my control. I have searched rakuten for it but can only find small sizes. Its this one I just have to buy (gun to my head): www.selfedge.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=392That looks like a denim tank top.

This is almost funny, im sitting here with a bag of cash and now I cant find anything in my size. The 7001 is sold out on 46 wich I will need since its unsanforized. I found it on rakuten but it looks veeery suspicious, look at the cuffs they are way too long (all other known sources like selfedge and rivetand hide show the cuffs as almost square) global.rakuten.com/en/store/2nd/item/fh-7001/ I also find no type-2 at all from anyone that will fit me. Looked at oni, momotaro and flat head. PBJ will work but is tonal, sugarcane will work and is cheap...but is that a funny denim to fade? *looks at bag of money*

Just gotta say...I love these damn 3009s. My favorite pair of jeans, currently. They are super comfortable but flattering and maintain their shape well even when breaking in. I love how they maintain their form and don't quickly stretch out like some pairs I have. High quality denim. And they are already showing some shadowy fade lines. Very fast in that regard.
So yeah, I dig these puppies bigtime.

Ugghhhh....dammit whiskeyriver and bugula! I've been really good holding off on any purchases recently in order to save up for my Iron Heart fall/winter 2015/16 splurge when they start dropping all their new shirts, but you guys are making it really hard to not cop a pair of these in the meantime. I've got my want list for jeans down to two pairs, the Flat Head 3009s being one of them. So shut up already and quit talking about them! I'm going to go bury my head in the sand now

Yeah, sorry ickes. But honestly, I am finding myself thinking about these jeans while I am at work and wishing I was home wearing them hahaha. They are that nice. Just FYI, the leg opening reeeeally shrinks on the 3009. At least mine did. Mine measures at a shade under 8.5". They started at close to 9.0". LOL. The inseam shrunk 3" as well, which I like but you all might not. They are dead on 33" now. I've heard clipping small weight on the ends of the legs will prevent a lot of inseam shrink. I bought in size 36 and stuck a 17.5" cookie sheet/baking pan in the waistband and the jeans were CLINGING onto it after, so it would have kept shrinking down. So these babies are shrinkers. EDIT: Also, Rivet & Hide's chart is inaccurate regarding leg opening.

general question on shrinking unsanforized stuff...
does the shrink happen during or post wash?
i'm assuming it's during and for iffy stuff, i'm good doing the tub wear but wanted to see if anyone's had any issues with post soak shrinkage.

I feel they shrink most during the soak but they also shrink some during the drying.

The shrink happens during the soak. It's the contact with water that shrinks them, not the drying

This is probably right but i think the drying pulls the weave together wich in practise makes then somewhat tighter atleast. I always feel they are more snug after the complete dry then after the soak and wear until almost dry.

I personally do believe it shrinks a bit more during the drying process. The cotton fibers do contract slightly when water evaporates from them. The main shrink comes from the water. But I definitely do think the drying does shrink them some.

whiskeyriver, Griffin ...I don't necessarily disagree that some additional shrinkage may occur as it dries but I'd have to say that it's hardly noticeable IMO. The vast majority of shrinkage occurs from the water, I'd probably say over 95% of the shrinkage occurs from the water. Any additional shrinkage that may occur during drying is quickly stretched out within hours after wearing I would say. Of course this all just my opinion man...

No thats entirely what I believe and experience also. It stretches quickly and is not a shrinking like the initial one but different, but the item does feel snugger, but its not a problem or dealbraker or anything if you wore them to damp its not gonna make them unbuttonable after full dry (unless you tumble them, this can do wierd shit).
I think we agree.

thanks for the thoughts guys (and the link to Gile's thoughts)...this is what i figured. just wanted to see if i was safe getting out of them as soon as the tub soak was done or if i needed to go for a couple hours walk.
