cool but all of those fits are meh I think I have a pair of straights coming from the Kickstarter campaign some time relatively soon (they've delivered most of them, I forgot and didn't give them details until this week), but all of the others beside boot cut seemed to have a pretty aggressive taper from knee to hem, so I went straight. I'll report in when I get them.

Worth mentioning, the guys at Soso have dropped some new and interesting denims. Light khaki, army green, a heavy option, black/black, classic herringbone, a metallic grey and a "candy weft" (I think I've seen it on N&F). Confirmed that all of the new, aside from black/black and metallic grey, are from their Chinese mill. Good looking denim, but open for opinions. The non-Chinese are from Kiahara.

My Kickstarter pair showed up today. I had to spend a bit of time convincing the buttonholes that they were to accept the buttons, but eventually got them all done. These are the Japanese 21oz blue line available on their site currently. I'm not positive that I got the olive thread I asked for since it looks more like the lime thread, but with them on it doesn't seem to be obnoxious. These have a much stronger twill line than the Gustin J21 but otherwise have a pretty similar hand. The patch is a giant, I'll try to put together some pics in a little bit.

A coworker of mine picked up the following:
Bronze-green broken twill (he liked the coloring of mine of the same fabric) Dark shade khaki (China mill) - good looking denim, more of a slightly darker taupe Dark grey 14 oz (Local in-house Thailand mill) - less weft peaking through than on the Japan Graphite, and darker (almost like they did the opposite effect than a G pic). The denim definitely has a dressier look when paired with tonal stitching and also has a slight vertical grain (not quite pima fire) He also grabbed an olive pair (not the army green that's currently offered) - I believe they are the Kaihara Mill version.
While the fabric pics aren't bad, I've found that a quick email to the guys at Soso (Jannis) and they are usually able to send pics of the fabric.
I'm not sure I'll take a flier on any of the Chinese denim offerings, there are a few Kaihara Mill options.

matt - I went with the fabric I did because it was the only thing over 16oz from a Japanese mill that they had in stock when I put in my options (I missed responding to my survey for a long time and they sold out of the fabric I had pledged for). I'm really happy with the quality of work, though I think they should look to source some higher quality hardware. Also, I've said it before and will say it again, their vanity sizing is out of control, I ordered a 31 and probably should have gone 30 (a 34 slim from Gustin fits snug out of the bag). I think I'll appreciate it more after these guys hit water, though.

I'm a 33 slim in G and opted for the Slim Darryl in 33, probably could've gone with a 32 with no issues though. But a hot soak and they are right where I need them (I opt to not get a stomach ache from buttoning my denim, I prefer the ability to tuck in if needed). My coworker said the same thing about thinking he should've sized down, but after a hot soak they seem to be working for him.

Mine are straight classic, I was worried about going tiny-cuff on such heavy denim, and if I remember right all of them were spec'd nearly an inch under my Gustin size in the cuff. I think they'll be near perfect once I wash them and break them in.

10% off this weekend, no code needed. Also stackable with the 25% new email subscriber discount or with the 20% Kickstarter discount some of us have. While they've got an influx of their own mill (Chinese) denim, there are a decent amount of Kaihara denim on the site.

My heavyweights from these guys are very well made, if anyone is curious about specific bits I can try to get some pictures. They are located in Indonesia and use a lot of Chinese denim, but it's disclosed in the fabric description. Delivery timelines seem to be pretty short, too. If you're not opposed to any of the above, i don't hesitate to recommend them.

Though I just noticed from my pictures that the patch isn't sewn on through the holes stamped in the patch. Something worth noting (I guess) is that the stamped pattern for the stitching isn't actually holes in the leather.

I saw that and zoomed in to make sure. Not a deal breaker.

In non-April Fool's news, Soso just dropped a 32 oz denim. Details here. I'm going to guess it's from their local Chinese mill. Nevertheless, probably a decent value for those who are in the market for being immobile. Note: limited to 30 pairs with a price of $349. No thank you. Especially without knowing any information on the mill.

Yes, I just received an email yesterday from SoSo denim advertising that they now have super heavy weight denim in stock. It made me laugh. Then news of the SoSo 32.oz denim blew up a bit on Reddit. And Bahzad Trinos was posting that nobody can make decent pair of super heavy jeans as well as they can. I am sure SoSo are jumping the shark a bit, because Naked&Famous have been talking about reintroducing their 32.oz denim again in the next couple months.

In more interesting news on denim companies that fulfill their orders, Soso is doing another Kickstarter on 6/1. Instagram tease
I'm curious on the mills from the hash tags, but still really cool options coming soon. I'm intrigued by the potential indigo broken twill-looking option in the pic.

Yeah I'll be taking a look at it next week. They've been working with a lot of Chinese mills for most of the stuff currently on their site -- which does, comparatively, have some interesting fabrics -- but those tags have me curious, as well. They apparently also have a chino cut coming, or available, though I have only been able to find one picture of welted pockets on their instagram that I imagine is their chino cut.

New Kickstarter is up. I got in on the $60 denim of my choice option. Made in Taiwan or not, I like my Japanese broken twill from Soso's 2nd KS. I'll see what stretch rewards are unlocked and maybe score something sweet for a $60 investment.

It looks like $78-$90 USD is the new price point for the remainder of the denim. Priced by weight for these offerings.

Is it me or do they have some really narrow fits? To get into anything above a 14 inch hem for my waist (35), I'd have to be in the classic fit, which has an 11.5 inch rise, which is really high.

Yeah, tiny cuffs. The classic selvedge fit (I think it's classic straight or something) is the one I go with since it has a cuff I can get my foot through.

I tried and failed to keep myself from adding the 25oz ixi Swedish selvedge to my order.
