What's so nice about the olive besides that it's green?

That's about it. Just a unique shade, with that crazy texture.
But, looking at the indigo pics, I may need a pair of those too.

Where can I find a fit guide for the 288 cut? I don't see it on BIG unless I'm blind.

Where can I find a fit guide for the 288 cut? I don't see it on BIG unless I'm blind. First column is waist, second is thigh, third is leg opening, fourth is rise, fifth is inseam. EDIT: That can't be right...that would mean huge leg openings! EDIT 2: That's what this seems to say... global.rakuten.com/en/store/frisbee/item/10004579/

Yes, it is straight cut with one wash. I have the 288ZR - same cut unwashed version. I love these.

But still, the leg opening is a bit wide on these and I like the 288 cut.

These are a very straight cut with the lower leg larger than I'm used to. I think it feels baggier to me because mine aren't broken and have some of the raw stiffness. I imagine after a few wears they will soften up a bit.

There's a post on Reddit stating that the secret denim is almost too loosely woven that it's prone to tearing.
can any owners confirm this?

I was getting the impression that some of the raw denim guys over there were wearing all this stuff without soaking it and keeping it raw. I would imagine this would make it more prone to all sorts of calamity.

it is a very loose weave.. i seen that gyys pair he must of had some other element that had to play into them being so damaged. These should get more soaks to tighten the weave so isnt so prone to stretch or tear imo.
since the slub is somewhat abrasive bumpiness.
The 546 doesnt seem as loose of a weave or any real visible nep.
but my 517xxbe do id imagine similiar to the 527zr which are very neppy can literally pick it out if tried.

Can we get a link to the reddit post?
I would think the opposite. The loose weave would redistribute stress much better than a tighter weave. I've only worn 20oz secret denim for a month and a half, so it's too early to notice any tearing or wear.

They are doing things a normal person wouldnt do in a pair of $400 jeans. If you aren't worrying about fade contests and just wearing em, I wouldnt worry about construction of any brand for that matter. People shred Naked & Famous & Unbranded which i owned a few of each and only 1 of my 4 pairs iv owned fell apart fast (N&F Dirty Fade). That pair i intentionally beat the hell out of to see the Dirty warp come thru. I do admit the denim on the Oni 20oz secret's did feel like they were weaved like burlap lol. Even with that I thought they were amazing and beautiful

I think it's safe to say the secrets aren't really for fading. they are for that weft and nep.
that said, I might just get the 517-xxbe and the secrets LOL

I gave up on waiting on the secrets but I do have a nice pair of 227 ox that are not very slubby or bumpy but the Oxford material is great plus fit is very similiar to the 517xxbe. got the last pair of 34 that possibly exist while back from some place called denim houseid on Instagram in Indonesia I believe but he did have secret available for 250$ I think he quoted me on them when I inquired but decided to hold out for denimio. chances are u would get an oni bandana. he's legit placed order sent me thru PayPal invoice to pay. & received my 227ox..
just pulled the trigger on some pure blue Japan AI-003 @denimio
not impressed by the secret fades neither jus the texture & color..

just pulled the trigger on some pure blue Japan AI-003 @denimio -------------------- Sir, my wallet thanks you ! Until now, I thought this cut would only be available at BiG. They had exclusivity on the AI-013(same cut). Hell, denimio is even selling theirs for $81 less than the 001 and 002. It is now a no-brainer. Grail ! Here I come.

b&g I think pushed pbj to develop the cut for them but it's kinda hard to say that silhoutte is only for Gordon @b&g u know.
I believe this first time they did it for anyone else.. makes much more since to name it 003 rather than 013 anyway since 011 012 are slim tapered also. once again to damn many that claim a specific cut associated with multiple #s for same fit. shame can't upload some pics being in a guest will have to register.
was gonna put up pics of my 227OX (527 cut lol) to show the nice burlap looking oxford..

acTually they all were that price some reason they tryin to shaft people on the AI which they are rare.
which makes no sense to me because the total is paid jpy regardless just add items to cart them change back to JPY.
anyway i seen them for the same price then they raised in usd $ amount. maybe b&g cried to pbj. wah.
405$ compared to b&g 685$ is pretty drastic. thieves if u ask me all of the retailers. I don't give a sh1t what they claim they gotta pay in customs and whatnot..prices are pathetically high.
self edge b&g etc..crooks which is a shame they still all manage to look so homely while robbing ppl blind.lmao
no more rants off topic anyways now..

Agreed. B&G, Self Edge, and (AHEM) a certain site that is a certain sole distributor for a certain brand for the Western hemisphere. All have a pretty ridiculous markup.

To be fair, those shops all have a brick and mortar presence in stupidly expensive places. We need to get it like the bicycling industry, where the major players have locations in Utah and rural Ireland, not NYC and London.

Market talks. If these inflated mark-ups are only justified by their presence in "stupidly expensive places" then, they will have to relocate if customers are not willing to support it. I believe Western retailers are already feeling the pressure from cheaper product availability direct from Japan. I do not think it is sustainable business practice for US retailers in the long-run to build barriers that avoid us accessing these brands direct from Japan, like exclusivity agreements, etc. Brands with free-market access will flourish (i.e. whatever is available through Okayama, Denimio, etc.). Western retailers will need to adapt to survive, we are already seeing some of their prices come lower. Not enough though in my opinion. For example, today you can buy Strike Golds SG2109 in rakuten for $230 shipped to your door. Same pant was selling last December for $390 at our beloved US retailer. Really...? Since, the US retailer has lower the price down to ~$330, not enough though… specially when their after sales service sucks and does not even offer refunds. Why would I want to pay $100 more for the same product? Just my rant. Yes, I have bought from western retailers before, when I knew know better... Nowdays, and in part thanks to this forum, I am sorry to say all my purchases have gone straight to Japan. Why? Because of the crazy mark-ups here in the US. Stop the fleecing, offer good value and I will come back as a customer to the US.
