Maritime CPO has shipped. Whaler sweater has not.
Well see in a few days. I have two wool overshirt/CPO from wallace and Barnes and I don't wear them a ton. Might not exactly need another one. Thankfully TS has a great return policy.

Interest check. I have a Crater shirt in the Ash that was just released. It is a size 40 and is great! I've worn it about 4 times but I think I might like the navy color better. If I throw it up here for $95 shipped would anyone be interested?

if it were in sz 42 I would be! Honestly--the shirts runs a little big. Part of the reason I want the navy, so it looks trimmer

Yeah a 42 would fit more like a shirt but in that moss color I really can't picture it as a shirt. Honestly for boiled wool it is a bit itchy.

I ordered this shirt on November 1 & haven't heard anything since. My account seems to be inactive so I can't login to check. While I'm waiting to hear back from TS, does anyone know when this should ship?

The more I look at the whiskey moto leather jacket the more I question if its worth $706.
The multi piece back has me wondering. The original Golden Bear had a one piece. Hope the over all quality is there with this piece.

Hope the over all quality is there with this piece. You'd do better saving up a few more bucks, or getting a flipper at a good price. Just my opinion. Leather jackets are like boots for me - anything less than awesome usually won't cut it.

I just hope they don't cut corners with the jacket. I love the color and the look of it.

Yeah, I'm admittedly a jacket snob now. Kinda like ickes with IH jeans/shirts. It happens - but who knows, you might like it.

This is so true and I was thinking this exact same thing when you said that anything less than awesome for boots and jackets won't cut it. I was thinking that's pretty much how IH has "ruined" me..lol. IH has turned me in to a bit of a snob now when it comes to buying shirts and jeans. Of course awesome is a matter of opinion from one person to the next, but IMO IH shirts and jeans are awesome and up to this point I just haven't found anything that compares yet.

There's simply no denying that the best gear just spoils you. Nothing to apologize for. I like being able to appreciate the effort that goes into actually crafting something as opposed to lazy, assembly line shit.

What makes the TS/golden bear lower end? What are some hallmarks of a high qual jacket? What does a snob look for in a jacket and why? Like I know that aspero cotton double brushed in a heavy weight is awesome. Because it's super warm, wind resistant, soft and durable.

I don't think anyone is saying TS+Golden Bear is lower end, as nobody has it in hand yet. Golden Bear makes good product.

Leather jackets...that's years of buying, reading, talking, etc. I'd wager that the average person won't know a pair of IH jeans from Lee's. Same for leather jackets.
Some key elements: maker patterns hides hardware (zips, snaps, etc) lining knits (if used) maker maker maker
I can't were off the rack mostly because they never fit me. There are some decent ones out there, but rarely could I wear one. All of my leather now are custom. Expensive, unique and take a fairly long waiting period. If you're just looking for something to wear and don't have the passion for it like say denim, etc., then no worries. If you find yourself being pulled in, you'll start noticing the differences.
thefedoralounge.com is the place to go to learn/see/discuss. Outerwear section...

So Old26 how big of deal is the one piece back compared to two?

So Old26 how big of deal is the one piece back compared to two? Depends on the jacket, and what it's for. It can be as bad of a joke as hand-warmer pockets. It may not matter. For a riding jacket - not normally. There are great jackets with multiple piece backs. If you're repro'ing something like a WWII A-2, it's a huge no-no.

For a riding jacket - not normally. There are great jackets with multiple piece backs. If you're repro'ing something like a WWII A-2, it's a huge no-no. So this is coming from someone who doesn't know shit about proper riding leathers/high-end jackets. I grabbed the moto. I don't know why - I just did. I've always had a leather jacket in my closet since high school. In fact, I STILL have that same jacket that was passed down from my dad. It was neglected (by both of us) but I still keep it. I've got a nice lambskin A-2 which is by no means a repro. I know lambskin is a fairly silly choice for something that was traditionally a foul weather/high altitude thing and that it's something I've seen people say generally super disposable as far as leather jackets are concerned. I say all that just to show what my knowledge-base is (ie, entirely uninformed except for light-use/general aesthetics). I am really happy with what showed up from TS+GB. -It fits nice and snug and only needs to stretch a little in the chest (which was what GB said it should be like). -The leather is supple and is not one of those super-stiff hides that would require breaking in (besides the minor stretch). -The color is a solid, vibrant whiskey with a few hiccups of dark circular (<1/4" diameter) stains on occasion. They don't bother me. -The zippers are tough, beastly things. -The sleeve length seems good for me which is funny since usually TS shirting is just barely short in the sleeves for me when the chest is perfect. -I think where the "gusset" sleeve zipper is needs to break in since it doesn't always want to fold right, but I'm probably wearing too bulky of clothing underneath (also a watch makes it super tough). -I think the lining could feel nicer. It has more of a rugged, longer wear feel to it, but also a rough feel. -The two-piece back is possibly a way to use more of a hide/different hides and is a point of failure over a one-piece, but it looks (visually) to be well done. So yea. A few in-person thoughts from someone who essentially knows nothing.
