So I'm curious if anyone has experience with the premium line of Lee denim, just went into a small jeans store in Copenhagen and they were hanging next to Telleson jeans and in terms of quality seemed pretty comparable. I'm really into the shirts though, beautiful texture and the fit is perfect (I own the regular Lee shirts, but 101's are sadly out of my price range).
Thoughts?
Experiences?
Places where you can find 101's on discount?

I don't really know their denim, but I always thought it's worth checking out. The quality seems to be good and they even have some interesting fabrics. There were a few moments when I was close to buy a 101 jeans but every time Gustin released something I "needed" to have and I spend my money there. I own a few 101 shirts though and have to say that I really like them. I am in no way an expert in shirts and don't have lots to compare them to, but their fit is perfect for my body type and I like the fabrics they use. I never paid full price for a shirt, because they are out of my price range, too. Every end of a year they have a 40-50% sale on their online shop, where I bought a few items. And if you are from Europe you should check out the ebay shop "royalbrands" from Poland. I bought a few shirts there and always check out what he has. He is surprisingly cheap, very reliable, ships immediately and for free (at least to Germany).

Hey Tim, Thanks for the response, yeah I live in Oslo and you can find Lee 101's in the Carlings shops around here, but it's usually their highest priced items and play in the same league as other higher end stuff that I would buy (same situation as you), maybe i'll pull the trigger one of these days though. And regarding the shirts, totally some super nice stuff in terms of a price/quality ratio. The main line jeans (in europe) are alright, but nothing I would really go for over something likes nudies. The shirts however are another story; some great fabric and also fit my body type perfectly. It's interesting how a denim brand has manage to make shirts their flagship in some sense, as they really outshine the jeans in terms of value proposition. Thanks for the tip about the store, but since i'm not in the EU I would probably have to pay customs

I would say normal Lee sadly is the same quality as Levis, a little bit under nudies perhaps. But still all of them from what I have seen (except of the 23oz or higher quality line, but I have never seen this at Carlings?) is not up to the quality of nice raw denim. Its mostly the fabrics that are dull and the stitching that is more cheap in the sense that it hasnt got flat felled seams and no selvadge details or other attention to detail.
I would say Gustin is a huge step up from Nudies in terms of fabric but there could be potential qc issues, however I take this over "china-made" products any day.
Nest step up would be Iron heart and the likes (Oni/Flat Head/PBJ)

Nudie uses a fairly wide range of denim - although not to anything like the same extent as Gustin - and their premium denim is generally very good quality, Japanese or Turkish. In fact, I seem to recall Gustin were looking into using some Turkish denim but I have a feeling that never happened. Construction wise, I'd give the nod to Nudie every time. I've never seen any pair from them that wasn't extremely well made and bang on their measurement specs.

That is right, but they have the same "mall-feel" as Levis for me, even tho they try hard not to.
All my Nudies have not had as nice seems inside as Gustin or LD, and none have had selvadge in the fly and the likes. No lined pockets. They use some ok material and I loved my NDPJ with the deadstock tint, and I like the thread, but now, to me, they taste like drive-through food after wearing IronHeart and Gustin Loomstates.

Yeah, they don't do anything most would consider remotely 'heavy' and even their better fabrics struggle to be considered truly interesting, although I still think the finish of their jeans - especially the selvedge range - is superior to Gustin. Nudie's better denim pairs are what I'd firmly consider 'medium range' jeans. As you say, they don't come close to touching the IH, ONI, PBJ etc. of this world... but, then, nor do Gustin.

Places where you can find 101's on discount? The Lee x Donwan Harrell 125th Anniversary Collection jeans are definitely worth a look. There are plenty of (genuine) pairs on eBay for around the $99 mark. 14oz Japanese red ID denim with lots of nice construction touches.

I havent bought any nudies in a long time tho, I have 3 heavy worn pairs from before. But none of them have nicely inside seems just the normal ugly zigzag/lockseem? Dont know the name. It looks so unclean and I dont like it. But I agree that the quality if we talk QC is top-notch. All in all I think they are overpriced tho.

i've been perusing the Lee 101 selection on ebay and came across quite a few Lee 101 selvedge denim variants that i'm assuming are strictly for the European market. They're the Lee 101S slim rider selvedge jeans. The one primary seller I found on ebay appears to be from Poland and has good reviews. Although, i'm not entirely certain about the fit details. The thing I liked about some of these 101S variants is the selvedge and fabric details and that some of them are button-fly. I believe the Lee 101Z has a zip fly which I don't understand.
Do any of you own the 101S selvedge jeans? Care to share your experiences with fit?

The day you buy is the day he ships. I bought the 12.5 oz. from him. I tried them on and measured them and they are exactly as listed. I haven't worn them though because I am breaking in my heavies for fall and winter, and I'll pull these back out late winter early spring.

how would you rate the quality and fit? The only reservation I have is the slim rider is just as it's advertised, a slim fit. when I did the cm/inches conversion most of the jeans I looked at had incredibly narrow cuff openings, like around 7.25" give or take a hair, so i'm curious if the slim rider is more of a skinny fit rather than a true slim fit. I typically like a hem that's 7.75" to 8" at most. I was checking around for other fits and I think Lee makes a regular fit for the 101S but it doesn't seem to be widely available.

Definitely not a skinny fit. Very much a slim fit. It feels like a Gustin Slim to me. I can take measurements if you'd like.
