Just received an email about a contest to win a free bag, but I'm not even going to try. Another pic of the bag: Here's a question for the group . . . what do you actually use a briefcase/bag/backpack for on a daily basis? I stopped carrying one years ago. I realized I was carrying the same stuff back and forth from the office, but never actually using any of it on either end. I realized that I was carrying it out of habit rather than necessity. I do pretty much everything electronically, so all of my work document and projects are available to me pretty much anywhere. I have a workstation at work and a travel macbook at home--no need to tote a computer back and forth. I read, listen to music, review docs, etc. on my phone. A few years ago I would likely have been tempted to buy a quality bag from G or Filson, but now that I've gone through a conscious uncoupling with a briefcase, I'm never going back to carrying one.

I have had a Victorinox Swiss Army bag made out of some type of Cordura for over 10 years. I am very close to it. It has a nice padded carry shoulder strap, which is actually getting some wear on it. It has my laptop along with invoicing, mail, payments and notes for projects I am working on for my business. It has been to many meetings, band rehearsals, clubs, bars and coffee shops. I do bring it home every night as I need the laptop and work on billing/scheduling etc. I also have my normal assortment of things. A LED flashlight, multi tool, flash drive, business cards, Altoids, hand sanitizer, I hate getting sick and protein bars. I had to have the zipper replaced as it came off and a local Victorinox dealer fixed it for free. Mostly my fault as I had my bag packed too tight to full of stuff. A nice leather bag would be cool but it would get pretty heavy to have the same type of compartments as I have now. I'm cool with the black.

I've been carrying around my Gustin Duffel in Waxed Olive as a gym bag.. it's lightweight, durable, and doesn't smell funky even after using it for a few months as such. I use a Jack Spade messenger for work.

I have a cheapo backpack for my motorcycle rides.
I have a 9$ cotton beach bag from polo for the beach of course.
Gustin duffle is awesome but I use it for trips and vacations not daily use.
I wear my gym clothes to the Gym and don't change there.
I don't carry a laptop.
I really have no use for a daily bag. I carry my lunch stuff from my car 25ft into the work fridge that's it.

i have a 7+ year old northface surge backpack that i use for the gym and travel. it's held up amazingly well and is a bottomless pit of storage. it's jut not very aesthetically interesting.
around town and when i carry my tablet i have a bluelounge postal bag (converts from messenger to tote). i've had it for about 2 years and have grown to dislike it. the recycled plastic fabric gets dirty very quickly, doesn't conform well to the body over time, and the shape doesn't allow it to hold much of anything other than relatively thin items.
now that i'm commuting downtown each day i'm looking for something a little more conducive to making stops on the way to/from work while on my bike or public transit.

I use a Victorinox Swiss Gear laptop backpack for pretty much everything, but I've been looking for a change lately. I carry my instrument, music, notebooks, etc. to concerts and rehearsals, as well as my go-to carry on for travelling. I've been looking for a briefcase style bag for my music stuff that's wide enough and without dividers that won't break the bank, so I'm curious about the new G bag.

I've got a Kenneth Cole leather messenger laptop bag that I use daily. I would like to upgrade at some point, but it's not a priority. It does the job. I picked it up at a Burlington Coat Factory for like $125 a few years ago. It has served me well. I'll probably pass on the Gustin bag on Saturday. I guess they have a 5% chance to sell me on it, but their description will have to be really good. I expect lots of buzz words in there (smooth, classy, buttery, sleek, professional, debonair, iconic, etc).

I have a Timbuk2 messenger that I use to carry my laptop, notebook, and books. Looking to replace it with something casual, yet more refined. Depending on the price I might go either Gustin or just pony up a few more green to get the Filsons.

Filson field bag, medium. I don't really do the EDC thing, but this is my go-to bag for a day out on weekends or holidays. Comfortably holds my Micro-4/3 camera, spare lens(es), a water bottle, folding knife, and a rain shell or umbrella with a little room to spare. A magazine, loose papers, and/or my iPad fit nicely in the back slit pocket if needed. And it's f!@king bombproof.

The stitching on the Velcro that keeps the front flap down started to come apart after two years of use.. this can be fixed, though:

I carry my laptop for work. I duck out early sometimes and finish things up at home. Nice to be able to get a bike ride in outside of rush hour. Jack Spade stock photo I use a Chrome messenger for cool weather bike commuting, groceries, beer hauling and travel, it holds three or four days of stuff and is my go to carry on. it's exactly like this, without the dork attached: And for longer bike commutes and warm weather, I have a Philosophy pannier, same as this one, but the grey color of the one in back:

I haven't used a bag since college. If I were to buy one it would probably be a waxed canvas shoulder bag I would use for my outings with my son. I currently use a cheap Eddie Bauer/Target diaper bag but one of the flaps is torn and I feel stupid carrying it. I'm thinking either a Filson on sale or maybe something cheaper, like a waxed canvas bag from Manhattan Portage. I basically only need a bag that's big enough to house a spare change of clothes, diapers, snacks and my personals

I have a briefcase made by Gfeller casemakers out of Hermann Oaks veg tan. I carry my laptop to and from work. It also has a custom sized slot for my check book and moleskine notebook. It's about 5 years old and will last longer than I will. Pics when new. Today it's darkened and has a more reddish tone (as Hermann Oaks so wonderfully takes on with age.)
