Yeah the cream slate had a yellow tint to it. Never wore it and sold it quick.

There is sone good info here. I'm debating sizing up to a slim M or a classic medium. A classic small fits well, but if it shrunk it'd be too small. Slim medium would account for some shrink in length, but not chest. Classic medium would be perfect if it shrunk 1/2 size, but if it doesn't shrink it will be blousy.

I think between the two I'm looking at (true navy selvedge chambray and either a seersucker or red/white plaid), I may opt for one in the slim L (chambray) while staying with the classic M in the other. Logic is that I take my shirts to the dry cleaners if they are traditional shirting material (twill, poplin, cotton, some chambray) and they've had no shrink issues, while the others (flannel) I've soaked and hung dry and it's "slimmed" up. I think the true navy would be soak worthy at some point.
Thanks everyone!

I'll let you know what happens with the Monster Twill and the Wine Oxford -- someone on styleforum said the wine gave him a mean shrink. Regarding this, do we think it's possible that they've rotated their patterns and what used to be lengthwise is now crossways, so the shrink has moved from length to width? Is this a thing? Referring to the solid shirts, not patterned.

Has anyone asked G directly about this?

Shrinkage is never good especially after they tell you there shouldn't be any shrinkage.
These are casual shirts not Faberge eggs we shouldn't have to worry about washing and drying them. Or treating them with white gloves.

So my Dad just gave me an XL Gustin shirt he bought that no longer fits him. I normally wear a medium in Gustin and now my goal is to shrink this XL down to a medium. Should I just hot soak it?

I don't think you can get two full sizes of shrinkage from a hot soak, or even a number of machine wash and dry cycles, but you can try. Or, better, you can sell the XL on the forum and buy a size better suited to you. Edit: maybe you can't sell it if your dad gave it to you. Maybe you are stuck with a shirt that's too big.

We need a buy/sell/trade on here. Really wish Gustin didn't shut the forums down.

I don't think it would shrink in correct proportions.. kind'a like how pants would shrink more along the length than the width. I don't think it'd be worth messing 'em up, unless you don't care what happens to them. Where's @wils when you need him?

I am inbetween L and XL and can wear both. None fit perfect.
I have gotten some XL and washed on 60 degrees and then tumbled dry, then washed again and hang dry, then ironed. They get a little smaller so they fit ok with a tshirt under, but they do not go all the way down to an L.
To get it to an M is not possible.

All this information is really helpful. I certainly will be sizing up on any button up shirt is get from G. Do the same principles apply to the t-shirts? Are people seeing shrinking on them as well?

I put the shirt in on hot wash and hot dry, didn't shrink much. Going to try the dry cleaners next to see if they can shrink it more. Probably just need to make the sleeves shorter.

Ok, now that I've received and washed my selvedge oxford I'm ready to chime in: I own a normal oxford, selvedge oxford, two flannels, a twill, and several chambrays. I also own two tshirts and 4 works shirts. I own a range of medium, slime large, and classic larges. In all cases where the shirt shrank it also came in a bit over spec. From everything I can tell they are accommodating for shrink during cutting. I know this might not be everybody's experience with an individual piece, but seems to be a trend across the set I own.
