A local store here in the Twin Cities has a first ever collaboration with Left Field NYC on these jeans: www.blkblu.com/collections/left-field-nyc/products/lf-x-blackblue-greaser-jeansSuffice it to say I'm really tempted by them. For one, I have seen some of the fades and they are very nice. But also the navy-dyed leather patch with the special design for the store, Black Blue, seems pretty awesome as well. I need some help, can someone talk me out of getting these?

It's nice, just not one of my top picks and at times they can come across as looking like navy slacks when they are new and haven't faded. Also, the fit on those isn't a good one either imo. The back rise on those is INSANELY high, not a good look if you ask me. Those are honestly the highest back rises I have ever seen on jeans. I would think they could have done something a little more special for a collaboration like that.
So, how'd I do? Did I talk you out of them?

You make a good point, ickes. I have a pair of Left Fields and they fit pretty well. But, like you said they are going to look like navy slacks until they start fading. I guess I just thought it was cool to see the collaboration between a local store and a company out east. I wouldn't say I'm bummed, devastitis.

I saw those on Rawr Denim a week ago, and while they looked nice I didn't think they justified the $275 price tag. there are quite a few brands that do the indigo x black style including Rogue Territory, 3sixteen, N&F (I think), etc, at much cheaper price points. And as Ickes pointed out, there's nothing special about the fabric. I recall reading that it's from Collect Mills which i've never heard of, but i'm being ignorant on this particular issue.
I still have not been to Black Blue. I emailed them about the cost of their chainstitching services and they never responded.

Not impressed with that. I will get to the store one day and inform them.

I looked on their site to see if they listed anything regarding chainstitching cost and didn't see a thing. If they did, they might avoid the many email inquiries they get. The lack of customer service with some stores is really irritating. It's as if you're invconviencing them by asking about a service they provide. At this point, if they don't want my money then i'll go elsewhere. there's no shortage of businesses that offer chainstitching services, and certainly no shortage of businesses online that offer similar product.

I know that they recently updated their website so maybe that's why they didn't respond. I usually hear back from them in a good amount of time. I know that they charge $35 for chain stitch hems which, compared to online stores, seems competitive when you factor in shipping costs, etc.

I should preface this by saying they responded to my first email about offering the chainstitching service but when I asked about the cost and turnaround time they didn't bother getting back to me. I think i'll still send my jeans elsewhere. abfits.com charges $15. I realize that with shipping costs it would probably come close to $35 but abfits does a lot of hemming for Gustin and i've read nothing but good reviews. likewise, I believe BOW charges $25 (plus shipping both ways) and BOW is known for their excellent customer service which I can attest to (when I bought my 3sixteen shadow selvedge from them). Jay at BOW simply has the best CS around. He's very responsive and he just does great business.

Here's a link, they're under Japan Blue Group. The thing that threw me about this particular pair is that rawr says they're Collect Mills, which is Japanese, and Left Field says they're Italian. These are much more exciting if they're Japanese, at least in my mind. Gist of the article, however, is that Collect is the fabric mill side of Japan Blue and Momotaro. If you like them, I'd send an email to Left Field to find out if they're coming out of there, or Italy (which would probably make it Candiani, who makes infamously hard to fade denim).
