First post: I was indecisive between skinny and slim. I had one pair of slims which were slightly too baggy until I shrunk them, after which, they fit perfect. I had actually ordered another pair of slims and cancelled the order (before shrinking the ones i currently owned.) Promptly I ordered another pair, in skinny with my credit and they arrived today. Fit is terrible. I can barely walk in them. Absolutely hate them. I have thick muscular legs and I can barely get these on, tight in the waist, can hardly lift my knee, totally restricts my movement. You would have to be very skinny to wear these, the jeans basically bind on my thighs and can't come up where they are supposed to be on my butt. FYI I am 6' 165lbs (relatively slim, but endomorph body type) Since I couldn't find any information regarding the fit when i ordered around Christmas, I am sharing my experience for someone else in the same circumstances. I've heard Gustin is good about returns.... To be fair, they are very well constructed and the denim is very nice. The line's across the back pockets are kind of sloppily sewed, but overall i'd be happy with the jean for the price I paid, if they fit better. (Black 2.1's) They have been great about returns for me. I feel badly about sending my skinny fit back as I'm the pain in the ass here, not them. They are going to try to find me the same jeans in slim, or will give me store credit. I suggest anyone thinking about skinny fit is really, really skinny. I'm 5'10, 170lbs and had the same problem with the fit. Really just wish there was some local Gustin store where I could try things on first. Again, thankful they are going to help me out and its not a default "no returns"

Just received a confirmation from Gustin regarding the return - no problem on their end, they will either find a better fit in the same jean, or offer store credit.
Couldn't be more pleased with the customer service, and Gustin will continue to get recommendations from me. Excellent customer service, good quality, and the price is right. Gustin FTW.

Glad to hear you're having good customer service experiences. I definitely agree that the skinny fit does not work on most people. I'm 6'2" and 150 lbs, to give you an idea from the photos. They fit me and I could probably pull them off, but I'm not sure I prefer the look over the slim fit. I remember seeing some people on styleforum begging for skinny fits, so there's definitely a market for them, but I put up these photos to help people decide if they're a good choice for them. I feel like the skinny fit on G's model looks a bit misleading, and looks a lot more loose than mine was. If you're considering the skinny fit but are afraid of being on the verge of too tight, try sizing up one. I went true to size with mine.

I think this is my first post here, but I was a regular on the old G-boards, and over on styleforum. So I picked up some #79 Indigo Loomstates in 34 Straight, and they didn't shrink quite as much as I wanted, even after a hot soak. I was browsing the stock store (always a bad idea), and saw there were some #180 black Loomies in 33 Skinny available. Well, you know what happened next. Yesterday they showed up and I gave them a warm soak for about 90 minutes, then hung them to dry for another couple of hours, then decided to wear them while damp. Number one, putting on damp, cold, skinny jeans is not enjoyable. Haha! After wearing them for an hour or so I figured what the heck and decided to sleep in them. Oh, they are trim-fitting, I'll say that! Nothing on them really shrank though, except the inseam. I was expecting some more, but, I think because I put them on damp, it stretched them back out. I'm not really sure what to expect going forward with regards to shrinkage. Anyway, here are the pre- and post- measurements: #180 black Loomstates, tagged size 33 Skinny Waist: Pre-soak- 33", Post-soak and wearing- 33" Rise: Pre-soak- 9.5", Post-soak and wearing- 9" Thigh 2" down: Pre-soak- 21", Post-soak and wearing- 21" Thigh 8" down: Pre-soak- 17.5", Post-soak and wearing- 17" Knee 15" down: Pre-soak- 15", Post-soak and wearing- 14.5" Cuff: Pre-soak- 13.5", Post-soak and wearing- 13.5" Inseam: Pre-soak- 36", Post-soak and wearing- 34" Now for the big question. I know you guys have no problem letting the insults fly, so let me know what you think. :-) I'm 5' 10" tall and about 144lbs. Keep them or sell them? Andy B.

Going up a fit will only make it look baggy.

Keep them or sell them? Andy B. If you're after a pair of jeans that don't fit well and look bad on you, I'd definitely sell that pair.

Fit looks good. I think it's because you're really skinny.

My only pair of Gustin's are the IxI in 35 skinny. I wonder if I should move up to 35 slim once I move up in fabric weight(17oz and up).
Has anyone moved up in size to accommodate the weight of the fabric?

I ordered super heavy slubs (18 oz) in my usual size (30 slim). They keep getting pushed back for shipping but as soon as I get them, I'll let you know how much less tolerable they were to break in than my heavy americans. For me, the waist is the most painful area on a new pair, and I believe some have recommended going up a size on the 23/26 oz beasts.

Thanks for the replies! I personally thought they looked okay because I'm a beanpole. LOL But I didn't know if it was wishful thinking on my part. They are definitely the skinniest fit jeans I have owned. For me I think the Gustin Slim fit is the most comfortable for just lounging around, the Skinny fit seems okay for occasional use.

bennyrum, I would not recommend going for a skinny in the Loomstates.

bennyrum, I would not recommend going for a skinny in the Loomstates. If they used the technique you used to wash them, wouldn't the most they shrunk in the legs be his spot on leg measurements?

bennyrum, I would not recommend going for a skinny in the Loomstates. Good to know, I'd probably do a slim, but I don't think I'm ready to dive into the unsanforized denim world just yet. I only just discovered raw denim a few months ago

bennyrum, I would not recommend going for a skinny in the Loomstates. Agree 100%.. I usually wear 30 Slim and went for a 31 slim in the loomies. Post soak, the things are my tightest fitting pair of G's. I think ordering loomies in skinny will result in a cautionary tale for the rest of the community =)

Yeah, I'd be a little leery of jumping right in on the Loomstate as a Skinny fit. I only did it because I had the 34 Straight Loomies to compare it to. Plus I wore them damp to bed after a cold soak. I can't say what would happen any other way.
I did wear them all day Friday, and they didn't stretch back out anywhere, so the fit is probably how it will stay.

Same experience.. don't expect the loomies, post-soak, to stretch out any more than your standard sanforized denim. I guess it would be pretty obvious to expect soaked loomstates to behave as sanforized denim would, but I think people kind'a peg their expectations on the final size of the garment to the original size of it.

A little late to the party here, but yeah andyb those look bloody fantastic. A trimmer fitting shirt* to complement the jeans would really help round off the look, but the jeans themselves look pretty close to ideal for a slim/tapered fit. * I've found that I needed to seek out slimmer shirts once I started wearing raws and became more attentive to the fit of my jeans. I have several shirts that I still love and still (I think) look good with one or two of my looser fitting jeans and chinos, but when paired with my best fitting denims make me look like a cupcake mounted on a pair of chopsticks. So just...beware.

Didn't know it was that old.. Yes indeedy. Recently resurrected at my house and quickly became Kidbert's favorite flick for a while. If I didn't watch it 100 times when I was her age, I can't have fallen short by much.

And I agree completely, a more fitted shirt is definitely needed with this style of jeans. A few of the Gustin button down shirts I have seem to work with them. I also found I normally can get by with a pair of White's boots or some other more "substantial" footwear with jeans, but the skinny jeans definitely need a lighter-weight footwear such as some black Nike running shoes I have, or some Allen Edmonds dressier shoes.
