Anyone have any experience with CF's tailored waist? Supposed to control shrink/stretch. Also, how did you find the fitting process?

Anyone have any experience with CF's tailored waist? Supposed to control shrink/stretch. Also, how did you find the fitting process? My 20oz has the tailored waist and it is really beautifully done. Not sure what exactly the purpose it serves but I love the detail. About sizing, I used its size guide and the fit is right on. My G size is 31 slim and my Ciano size is 31 901 slim fit but Ciano has changed the fit guide since my KS order. I should be size 30 in new size guide.
No wash yet, so there is no shrinkage. It stretch a bit but not significant. Hope this help.

Most of my non raw jeans measure about 16 or 16.5 out of the wash and they are all too big (have to wear a belt) Ciano seems like they're cool if there is a problem, so I think I will be okay guessing.

Just measure one of your best fitting jeans. I would use the measuring guide from the G website here: www.weargustin.com/fitguide

I am also a big fan of the tailor finish. I have not washed my CF jeans yet, so I can't speak to how it may or may not control shrink. But I think it's mainly intended to control stretch rather than shrink anyway. It's also extremely comfortable. CF will fit looser in the leg compared to the equivalent waist size in Gustin. If you don't have a good handle on your sizing yet though, benjaminpersitz, I'd email Ciano and ask what he recommends given your measurements.

Worked with Ciano to determine size. Went with a 30 with a tailored band. I'm worried it might be a little big, but I'm stoked on them. Will update in 4-6 weeks!

It is my understanding that the inner waist apron/lining band does a couple things. Foremost, it reinforces the waist for the longevity/life of the garment. If one considers the number of times you don/doff a pair of jeans, the waist band undergoes a lot of pull/tug. Secondly, the apron is made of a poly/cotton pocketing material that has significantly less shrinking allowance. Because the outer waistband material is cut on the bias, it is prone to stretching and morphing. By adding the inner waist apron, Ciano inherently reduces the amount of shrinking and stretching of the waistband. In a normal pair of "raw" denim trousers without the tailored waist band, one can achieve a stretch/shrink up to 1-2 sizes. The tailored band during normal wear can only stretch up to 1/2", theoretically speaking. I'm sure one could achieve more if one tried, but essentially it creates reinforcement to prevent that.

For what it's worth, I prematurely soaked my first pair of CF jeans, in a rain storm, while walking to my car. I hung them to dry when I got home, and the waist was the only part that didn't shrink. To date I own 3 pairs of CF jeans, all with the tailored waist band. I'll never want another pair of "raw" jeans without it. For me, it's equivalent to size insurance.

Is waist band one of the options when ordering on the site? or you have to specifically instruct Ciano to make one for you.

I had my 16.7oz denim made with the tailored waistband. Don't know regarding stretch or shrink yet, but it's comfy.
