Brahs, Bros, and Bruhs,
One of my projects is ending and it is time for me to take a break and leave Okinawa and visit the mainland for a few days. I assume this will the first of many "weekend" trips since they can be gotten for like $100 round trip.
Any of yinz guys have any denim mills suggestions? Know of any that cater to gaijin brahs that don't speak more than 10 words in Japanese? Anyone know physical locations of mills a schmuck like me can find with little planning? I don't plan trips well and just wing em. I miss half the stuff that way, but the other stuff I see is lovely and full of suffering and adventure. No good travel story is without suffering. nobody wants to hear, "I went to this place and saw what I expected to see and nothing went wrong. Everything was on schedule."
You want to hear about how you missed the flight, got lost, got found, shuffled to bathrooms fearing for your dignity...barely making it etc etc.
I did minimal research today on Kaihara and it seems that they have multiple mills with headquarters in Hiroshima...I don't want some stuffy "headquarters" tour. I want a gritty mill tour.
This might all just be an idea I won't go through with, but who knows. The flights could put me in Osaka which is somewhat near Okayama. I checked train prices from there and it isn't as cheap as I had hoped at like $60 each way. I might just go to Tokyo and eat food and wander around like a jerk. Whatever, denim tour might not happen, but if yinz got some good leads, it could help kick me into gear and maybe make it happen. If it does, I will shower the denim world with photos.
