I finished this up yesterday while watching a Christmas Day Netflix "Leave it to Beaver" marathon with my family. 8/9 oz veg tan leather and waxed linen thread. I did no edge burnishing or leather treatment of any kind on this one except for the strap. This should make a nice replacement for the pleather one that used to live in my gym bag. I keep posting this stuff up in hopes of inspiring those who have considering making things out of leather but have never taken the plunge. It's a lot of fun, incredibly rewarding, and you can start with a relatively small investment in tools and supplies. It does, however, require a lot of precision and practice to create professional looking seams. If you have a Tandy store in your area, they usually have a few veg tan shoulders on special, and alternatively, there's some reputable resources for leather on ebay. I'll tell you, it's incredibly rewarding to use things that you have made by hand.

stinky, I'm thinking of trying to make a biker wallet in the new year. Seeing your work is giving me a positive push.

stinky: I want a belt made of this: Possible? I want something to match these: It's possible, but I don't think that strap matches those boots. It's very lightly dyed with a bit of mahogany and a bit of amber stain. those boots actually look closer to a veg tan . . . are those the GQ tan rodeo boots? I'm backed up right now with leather projects--i have a few belts in the queue as well as a veg tan gym/travel bag, but I could ultimately get to it if you don't mind a bit of a wait.

Don't worry about it stinky. When you're caught up, let me know and I'll talk to you then. I'm more than supplied at the moment with belts, etc. Thanks man! Doppx3 looks great. I just dig the looks of that strap - looks like it's very pliable and soft. The boots are Chippewa Service Boots in sand suede.

Old26 . . . it is soft and pliable, but i made it that way by working the strap to soften it up. I laid it flat, and starting at one end, folded it over and worked "the fold" to the other end by pressing down with my palm. flip it over, wash rinse, repeat on each side until it's nice and soft and textured.
