In Massachusetts you can't buy/sell beer on Sunday unless your 10 miles from NH or VT. Or unless your MA town has overridden that law. In my Boston suburb, you can buy beer/wine after noon on Sunday at the discretion of the retailer. But this change in the law only occurred in the last few years. I'm in a slightly less Puritan town. But barely. It was entirely dry less than 10 years ago. No beer/wine/liquor stores whatsoever.

In Norway you cannot buy beer in the stores after 18:00
Stores are also closed on Sundays.
It is some church thing i believe but havent heard exactly why yet, its something about closer to the end of the day and more likely that your not getting it with dinner and more for just getting alot and go home and drinking it all....and be unresponisibel.
If you get it before then they screen out all that spontanious "have a drink (and maybe out of marriage sex)just for the fun of it".
Why they are closed is bc you should go to church and not go and consume...
