I see G have black 2.1s at only $86, on I think a 2 day run for some reason. How do these compare to the black 2s, which I gather are considered the best of the blacks. well I don't own the black 2.1s but I do own the Black 2s. Judging by the pics and the description on the campaign page of the Black 2.1s it look to me that the only real noticeable difference is the weight. I believe the Black 2s are 1.5 oz heavier. The Black 2.1s look really nice.

Japan Double Black. Had them tapered at Railcar and they are easily one of my favorite pairs now.

Got my Italy Black x Black today even though the campaign said March - thanks team Gustin! Just hot soaked, added a purple layer to join the green (Okys) and indigo (Z18s, Loomies) rings already in my tub :-)

Fabric taking forever to ship? Trouble in production? I donno. Awesome with the earlier than expected deliver!

Any of you guys have pics of the #167 ITALY BLACKXBLACK's?
I've been wanting a blackXblack pair of denim, but the "has a much more crispy feel when raw" description puts me off of these... do they soften after a soak? After some wear?

After some wear? yes, all denim will soften over time after soaks, washes, and wear.

Hmm, my BxB are some of the softer jeans I have. Certainly not starchy, at least after the first wash. They don't feel nearly as heavy as my Oki's though, even though both are listed as 14oz.

Yeah, Okis are super starchy. After a warm soak they lost a ton of starch (the entire bathtub turned yellow) and when they dried up they could still stand on their own and this is 14oz we are talking about.

My Italy BlackxBlacks haven't shipped yet, so here's hoping they show up this week. Weather permitting, of course.

ickes - I know, but I'm talking about how quickly these soften in particular... I have the Downtown Browns and they're still a bit stiff compared to my Slates, for example... both worn for a couple of months about evenly. While my Light Left Hand's have been super soft from the beginning, but could be due to the lightweight (9-10oz I think). bentin - the Italy BB, not the Japan BB, right?

I think it just has to do with the amount of starch in the fabric.

Yep, Italy BxB. I agree with Ickes, I think it was just the starch. I tried them on before washing them and they were pretty stiff, but after a wash they're really soft. Wearing them now.

"HOW TO WASH BxB??" I just got my 167 Italy BlackXBlacks last night, from the campaign 2 or 3 months ago: www.weargustin.com/campaigns/1286So.... I am 6 ft, but these easily run 4 or 5 inches too long for the inseam.... Basically too long to reasonably cuff. I think I should wash before paying for the hem, to get some shrinkage out of the way - but how to wash flat black denim? Cold wash in a washer on gentle? The whole Woolite-in-bathtub hassle? I'm thinking since it is black weft and weave one can be less delicate fretting about fades and whiskers, etc. For the record I have one other pair of Gustins -#64 Japan Classic from Sept 2013. I've frozen them twice and never washed. This pair at 33" waist have never quite stretched out enough; the new blacks are 34" waist and fit perfect. Both are straight, not skinny bc I am way over 40 lolz Thanks for any input - Sam

Oh - if you go to yr weargustin.com account and check orders, the tracking number will link to US Post Office site, and you can see how close they are to arriving. They should have all been mailed out Wednesday. Pray you are at least 6'6" tall.

Weird. I just got my shipping notice for the BlackxBlacks which were meant to ship in March, so in theory 2 months behind yours, samlowry. I hope the legs are max 36" long for cuffing, but with G you can never be sure.

wdw - they've re-campaigned the black #167s 2 or 3 times in the last 6 months; maybe you did not pledge as long ago as thought? I don't feel like I waited long for mine.

I did my BxB in slim and the fit works for me, but my Oki's are straight and felt s little too baggy all around so I machine washed them on warm and dried them on low. They lost a little over 2 inches of inseam and nearly half an inch at the ankle. The waist shrank to be a little too tight for a few days but stretched back out. Now that the Oki's fit well, I'll probably cold wash them in the tub, but the BxB aren't going to be faders so they'll continue to get the washing machine.

I actually meant that I ordered two months after you, so mine are coming super-quick. I already have the Japan blackxblacks, but hemmed them for work, so need a pair I can cuff.
