exophobe - pats will be there again next year. Let's go sox! I truly hope not. Like all dynasties, they need to run their course. It's just not fun seeing the same people there year after year. And I'm a Steelers fan. At some point, you need to have new blood to keep it interesting...

If the Steelers were in it every year I wouldn't mind that at all.......I can see how your point would be a popular one for people that just like watching sports, and don't have a favorite team.

Well, I've been a Vikings fans for longer than most of you have been alive, so that's not true. Even fans with fave teams get sick of the same old. Love the Pirates too, but jeezus, how many years do you want to watch the Yankees in the WS?

The Patriots "dynasty" is a testament to their ability to overcome the parity that the NFL encourages. Fortunately, there are a few franchises in football who can't figure it out (ahem, Cleveland, looking at you). But the general idea that mostly anyone can win is proven when the playoffs are usually made up of 3-5 new teams each season.
Baseball, unfortunately, doesn't have the structure and only a handful of big spenders "get it". There is some hope with Houston, but it looks like it's all the usual players again (NY, StL, Chicago, LA). I would love to lump Boston into it, but I don't think David Price alone is gonna rebound the Red Sox back to prominence.

Problem is, getting to the playoffs in the NFL isn't really a big deal. AS we see - year after year - so so teams get in and get slaughtered every season. Only a handful remain on top and get rings. Some have never got them. Dynasties are fun for a while. If it's your team, even more so.
PS - why the ***k do coaches run from the Gatorade? Goddamnit, if I go to the Super Bowl, I turn and get it in the face!

Old26 you said you were a steelers fan and then you said you were a Vikings fan for longer than most of us have been alive. Which is it? I've also never spoke to any competitor that was sick of winning.

I've also never spoke to any competitor that was sick of winning. I'ma Vikes fan 100%, but growing up in PA, I had to appreciate the Steel curtain - esp since a lot of those guys came from Penn State. Just that. I bleed purple and gold. Never said someone gets sick of THEIR team winning. Don't be dense.

Carolina is acting like they won it all already. Peyton didn't even look that happy. Maybe this year will be a good, stress free game to watch.

I haven't really seen Carolina play (and I didn't even bother with the second half of the game today). A young team showing up cocky can only benefit an experienced team with the number one defense in the league, but that Seattle Super Bowl is definitely going to be lingering in the back of my mind over the next two weeks. I'm hoping the Broncos give 'em hell, as it'd be nice to see a good game.

Hopefully the Broncos D can stifle their offense.

Watching them play, it's hard to not like Carolina. They look like they have a ton of fun out there. Like a bunch of kids on the school yard just wrecking competition. It was the opposite with any of the three other teams. It's tough to beat a talented team that looks like they're all best friends on and off the field. I've never watched any of their regular season games this year, but it's a breath of fresh air watching them play the last couple weeks. Closest team I've seen has been the Seahawks.

As an AFC guy, props to the Broncos defense for the dominant game. I feel like the Panthers never quite got their game off the ground. I was surprised it didn't turn into a shootout late as I expected.
