devastitis - have you worn those Gustin sneakers yet? How do you like them (or did you return for the crooked heel tab?)

I got my blackxcoal ws and it fits like an undershirt. If the shoulders shrink I'm screwed. It smells of sulfur too.
I remember someone posted about using a cookie sheet to keep the shoulders and chest from shrinking. Any advice on measuring the shoulders to know which size cookie sheet to use?
Also one of my 3oz button ups shrunk in the shoulders and chest after a cold wash. How doable is it to unshrink that?

Don't wash, soak, wear it around etc if it's outside spec out of the bag. I've heard the best way to get the sulphur smell out is a sun bath, so if it's within spec that's a good place to start. From my experience, water is not the way to get the smell out. I believe the whiskeyriver cookie sheet method is just a matter of finding something that matches your ideal spec (whether cookie sheet, piece of 2x4, whatever), and jamming it in there while the fabric is wet. A cookie sheet would be good for the chest but I would probably go for a 2x4 in the shoulders, but I would imagine there'd be a bit of weird stretching in the sleeve where it tries to shrink.

I'd have to shove the 2x4 real close to the shoulder seams or something. I'm backing the Zimbabwe WS and sizing up to a slim

Anyone with Heavy Americans have problems with crotch bunching that went away? just got a pair and they bunch really bad around the crotch. they almost exactly match the size of a pair of n&f i have which fit perfect(except the n&f are slightly smaller in the thighs) wondering if its because the material is so much thicker? 16oz vs 8oz. and if this is the case would just wearing them out a bunch help loosen them up?

ha just watched that ep a few days ago. Its not a tent more just like weird folding. I've read it can be caused by wearing low rise too high or too tight. but the waist is an inch bigger than what i normally wear and it happens no matter how high i wear them. Not my pic but this is what it looks like(the left picture)

Just got a pair of the Desert Duck Canvas that I ordered from the stock store. Size 30 showed up with a 33" inch waist. I know they can be returned but now im stuck with over $100 in credit but have very low confidence in the Gustin product and quality control. Kinda sucks.

If the credit will be due to returning this pair, tell them that you want a refund, not store credit.

Good idea, I'll request a refund instead. if it were that they came in on spec but didn't fit you, I'd say you take it on the chin and feel lucky to get credit, but if they ship you something from inventory that doesn't match spec, I can't think of any reason not to feel justified in asking for a refund.

I'd say there's no need to feel justified in asking for a refund. If they allow it, they allow it...you're not putting anyone out. You're already paying a stock processing fee and return shipping (I'd fight for shipping refund if they were off spec). They're also going right back into the stock store to be re-sold (hopefully at the correct size if off spec, but who knows).

Just got the re-released J21s, just in time for the PNW "June Gloom". It's a thing.
I like them. Veg tan patch is cool.
Waist came within spec at 34, but man, these are long at 38" inseam. I'm rockin a 5"+ cuff right now. I don't usually like a very tall cuff but I also don't want a thick roll either. They'll get hemmed eventually. Hmmm, any advice?

If you don't want to shrink the top block any soak only the bottoms in hot water. I think I got a full inch+ in warm water. Didn't get a lot but some on the top block. Mostly shrink in the length.

Got J21s today. Waist is at least half inch under spec. These buttons are tuff. I think I'll give em ago even if I can only get 2 buttons on so far. Time to lose some weight
Edit: cuff length is normal on mine with just a single cuff. I'm thinking when I soak these 6 months down the road or so I won't have a cuff left
Got third button on but no way on the last one yet
Question: anyone with the J21s and another Zimbabwe cotton. Do they feel like the same cotton?
Edit 2: got the final button on and stretched the waist out to about 34.5" and they are good to go. I have a blister on my thumb from working the buttons through the thick holes
The veg patch on these is awesome. It's like 3x the size of my other Gs and looks like a shimmy of wood

Now it you will excuse me, I'm off to buy a deer bone for my new shoes.

Seriously..I can't wear my J21s without getting them hemmed, and I can't send them off to get them hemmed unless I soak them, and I can't be bothered to soak them. I also have two others I need to soak before shipping them off to get hemmed as well. But I can't be bothered to soak them. I'm too lazy for this game.

I mean, the man is wearing boots on both his hands and feet, and tied around his neck as a necklace for goodness sakes. What do you want from him?!
