Same, reminds me too much of cowboy boots, something I've never had and never will. Cowboy boots do not use anything like that horrendous Cuban heel. I've never understood why men would wear that - it makes a boot look like a school teacher's (women's) boot from 1865...no offense meant. Just never got that one... Close enough: Snicker. Would it be too much to stack with those? Just roll a cuff instead? My dog would have the heads bitten off of both before I even got my feet in them. I'd almost pay just to see the comedy.

I just went down to the shop to try them both out. While I agree that the Cuban heel looks a little more feminine, it is way more comfortable to walk in. Also, it actually looks pretty good on the SD. I saw it on a smokejumper it looks terrible. anyway, long story short, I'm going with the Cuban heel on my pair.

I'm going with the Cuban heel on my pair. Good choice, it will be the most functional.

I couldn't dislike the Cuban heel any more, having never worn them, honestly. The profile is a bit more feminine than I want out of a pair of burly boots that are going to live forever. It is likely they feel a bit less clompy, though. Same, reminds me too much of cowboy boots, something I've never had and never will. Though I feel I should also note, I wasn't attempting to call cowboys (or their boots) feminine. This heel style is often shared by them, but the design of a typical cowboy boot is sufficiently different to a typical workboot that it results in an entirely different "feel". I also understand it's functionally different, as a typical workboot isn't designed for riding horses and working with stirrups.

Good choice, it will be the most functional. Can you recap (or provide a link to) the functional differences? I'm having trouble remembering, but know there was a sufficient reason that White's or Nick's was using for justification on the fire-fighter boots.

Unfortunately I cannot wear D width. I think what he meant to say is "yes, these are $490, so $476 for MTO is a good price". Those Thrux Lawrence are beautiful though. Good choice, it will be the most functional. Can you recap (or provide a link to) the functional differences? I'm having trouble remembering, but know there was a sufficient reason that White's or Nick's was using for justification on the fire-fighter boots. It keeps you more on your toes, helps with posture, and places the arch support in a better positio.

Mini vibram sole. Natural midsole. Close trim. I just went down to the shop to try them both out. Animal Traffic in Portland stocks a few makeups as does the Danner store.

Lucky you. I should have known the PNW. Cuban heel - I'd read somewhere that it's attributed to the logging industry. I see none here, so probably a regional thing.

I mean this is by and large a group of guys talking about clothes, many times workwear, and little work being done in it. :-) Yes, I like the cuban heels. Looks way better than the block IMO and as unnamed said, easier to walk in.

I never called them feminine, I just don't like them and would buy another boot if they're not designed around a block heel. I also prefer a Dainite sole.

Oh come on guys, this isn't place for guys who display trophies for PARTICIPATION. We can all discuss things without getting our panties wrinkled. If I want to talk with a bunch of people who are worried about hurty feelies, I'll go in to see HR...

Put me in the love the cuban heel on Whites boots camp.. I have two pairs of BHs in regular rotation and I just feel the boots are better balanced with cuban heels.
My friend has a pair with the block heel and it just doesn't feel right. It could also be that I am so much used to seeing a cuban heel that anything else feels odd. Something like how people don't like seeing themselves in photographs when they are so much used to seeing their reflection in the mirror where everything seems a little off..

Definitely makes a diff on what you're used to. I wear all types of heels, so none of them are better in that respect, although the western heels are higher and require a little more effort to balance. For me, it's 100% aesthetics that kill it. So now we're talking personal taste and as we know, that is indeed personal...

Hows the roughout going to be incorporated into the mods?
I'd send Whites to Whites. You will be waiting forever for Nicks to get these done.

The roughout will be the part of the boot below the laces and the heel. lol howd you know these are whites? I have looked all over these boots numerous times and there is nothing to say what brand these are.
