Naturals from the first run (34 straight) + navy selvedge chambray (L but sewed up slim): Natties are so casual and versatile, well worth it at sub $100.

Didn't get to post up a pic yet, but I did receive my recent Italy IxI's. This is going to sound very novice, but the indigo is ridiculously...indigo. Super dark and inky. A nice stiffness for 14 oz. but not overly rigid. To get them wearable (length-wise), I typically do an initial soak on the legs. I was fully expecting the tub to look like a smurf murder, but surprisingly the indigo doesn't bleed without agitation. However, I am already seeing the appearance of lighter blue fading along the seams and in the back of the knees. I go back to this, I honestly expected these to parallel my Cone BlueXBlacks in terms of dark, but I really do understand the distinction between the two by seeing them side by side. Yes, I know, nothing worthy of a revelation here. Just wanted to share my thoughts. The #166 Italy IxI from the most recent campaign?! I swear it seems like I only backed that a few weeks ago, assuming it's the same campaign. I just checked the order status for mine and it says "orders slated to start shipping the week of 7/20 through the end of the month." Must've been a tad early? At any rate - I take it your initial thoughts are positive? Feel free to post some pics! This is actually my first Gustin backing, semi-stoked to see how it goes.

I agree with a few of the others here, I think that Gustin trucker actually looks pretty damn cool. I think the original Blue Line 2 trucker was better, but...... I was like the ONLY person who backed it lol

I just received my Gustin wallet from the Grab bag ( www.weargustin.com/store/1579) and I'm quite happy with it. I like that color, also good quality of leather for this price. A well-made Gustin product in my opinion ! Really nice for travelling light ! I think I'll try those Gustin T-shirts, I wear a S size on Uniqlo supima t-shirts, any suggestions about the sizing and the quality ? Thank you !

I wear a size L in Uniqlo Supima, and the size L in Gustin fits me nearly identically.

a) the naturals look great! b) I love seeing random whiteboard information which is partially blocked and try to interpret what people were trying to do Looks like diagramming some Amazon Web Service (cloud computing solution) backed UI. AWS is the NAAWWWWWS of the web. I might have seen too many Fast & Furious movies. It looks like it mentiones "Point of sale" and "sos" and that sounds like physical cash registers and a support-line. I would lock\harden those pos-machines down asap there is many New malware directly aimed at pos-terminals.

I'm looking for some help identifying my first pair of Gs from a grab bag. I bought these Gustins about the middle of June, if I remember correctly they arrived on June 16. However, they don't have a tag identifying what the fabric is. After a warm soak and 24 hour air dry, they've been getting occasional wear - my job only tolerates jeans one or two days a week, and another grab bag purchase (#207 Cone Summer) arrived at the end of June to compete for wear time. I'd guess maybe 6 or 8 days in the month or so I've owned them. They're heavier and starchier then the #207 (11 oz), although they looked to my untrained eye to be the same indigo color. They were so starchy they could stand up by themselves after the initial soak, but are getting much softer now. They fee a little coarser than the #207s as well. They've got a red ID, and a brown patch. They were a little fuzzy when they first arrived, and are getting fuzzier as they've been worn. To my eye, I haven't noticed any fading, but I did see some dye transfer to a pair of off-white socks I wore with them once. Please see the pics below for a better idea of what I'm talking about. All the pics are from tonight, sorry, I didn't take any when they first arrived. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks ickes. That seems to be as good a guess as any. I just wish there was a pic of the weft on G's campaign site to compare to the pair I've got hanging in the closet.

Anyone have the Italian greenlines? If you can post some pictures I'm kinda interested and I'll burn the rest of my G credit on them.

Here's a picture of my Lawless apparently made of the same fabric (don't have the 16.25oz cone from Gustin, only the Am16er) I just took of the weft/ID, the first hot wash turned everything blue inside, so it's a little off. The second pic is the only one I have of the weft when they were new, showing the almost sad four-way seam in the crotch.

Beating up on the ACs at work, today. My American 16ers are in for repair. But, they should be in work rotation, next week, as well. Time to get some DIRTY fades.

I was feeling reckless so I threw my 8 month old Okayama Standards in a 95 degree wash to see what would happen to them. The waste water that came out was like deep blue ink. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good move. I was getting sick of the boring stage between losing their crisp, raw look and being worn old jeans. The wash definitely helped them along and they're turning a real nice shade of blue now, and the whiskers and combs and all those other good things are showing up a little better. One odd thing was that the pocket bags and the white label on the waistband have turned bright yellow. It's like they'd been dyed in Mountain Dew. Strangely, it hasn't effected the white on the selvedge ID. It's bizarre. The only thing I can think is that it might be from the leather patch, which is now significantly lighter. Anyway, the moral of the story is don't be scared of the washer, unless you hate the idea of yellow pocket bags. Dude my Okas were too big, seemed like a cut between the standard and slims, so I scold-soaked them and threw in the tumbler. My pocketbags and G-tag are now neon-green!!! I think for sure its the deadstock color that does this. Mine isnt actuall washed yet so still have some green tint. How is yours, did they loose all traces of deadstock on the outside? If yes, then I might never ever wash mine! Evah! sorry for the late reply, been away awhile.. Not too sure what you mean by "deadstock color"—I thought deadstock was just something that isn't made any more. But yeah, they totally lost any trace of the green cast and now look like good old vintage indigo jeans. I'm not sure what the "cast" is exactly. Is it a tint added to the indigo, or a sort of final overdye? Whatever it is, it can't handle a boil wash and bleeds out all over the place, affixing itself to pocketbags and waistband tags.
I think if I were to do something similar again, I'd take it down 10-15 degrees C.

jackgordon - you're right about deadstock, that confused me as well. Cast is an implied color, "they're indigo but at a distance they give the impression of a green". Kind of like how different blacks will look blue or black or green, etc. This could be an extra process but is more likely just a byproduct of the specific dye or dying process used and how it interacts with the cotton or sanforization processes. Based on you saying that it seems to have left the denim, it would seem that it's the dye, and as excess dye is removed through washing and wear, the greenish cast goes away. At least, that's how I understand it.

Sometimes companies tries to emulate deadstock. A concrete example is the Nudie SlimJimDryJapan that was dyed so that is would look to have been left in a warehouse for 30 years.
This is what I believe is done to the okayama standard, and I should have said "deadstock-cast" or simply greencast but imho it is a special kind of green that makes it look deadstock and I like that color alot, its my favourite jeanscolor. Its not because its supposed to look old, I just like it.
Mine did not loose all of it after the hotsoak, and it still has some now even after a real wash, but the green on the bags and tags shows that it does wander.
They stayed the shrunksize and are now a pair of my favourite jeans so its really cool that they became so goodfitting.
