Thanks unnamed.. The Okayama and the Zimbabwe 15 look a lot alike.. If I want to keep one of those, which one should it be? The weight seems similar with just 0.5oz difference between the two.. What happens to the other one?

ELS cotton usually ages better/wears harder so I’d say the Zimbabwe 15.

Most definitely the Zim 15. The green/gray hue makes the fades really interesting. I love the look of those original loomstates, by the way. The texture is actually more interesting than the zim loomies. I just got my Zim loomies in and they are both too small and have several sewing defects. It's ridiculous. I'll post pics in a bit.

I mean, it's odd, but I'd just turn them back right-way-out.

I mean, it's odd, but I'd just turn them back right-way-out. You don't wear your pants inside-out? Am I the only one? I get what you're saying but when you cuff them - which I do - there are a bunch of strings hanging around, and some of them are on the outside of the pants too.

Underwear goes inside the pants.

That sucks, I'd be genuinely irritated too. I'd be tempted to inquire about it but I think, if it was me, I'd rather have the loomies and something special than to send them back and have to wait for another round (if that ever happens)

Here they are. I'm super bummed. I was so excited about getting my first pair of Loomies. I guess I could cut the strings but there is also all that weird writing inside and for $170 I'd like them to be perfect. That and they have a 34 waist now which means they won't fit when I wash them. I ordered a 36. Should I return them? Or does anyone have other suggestions? Send these pictures to Gustin, say how disappointed you are, and ask what they recommend you do. Common reports have people bathing in these and the waist doing what they need it to even though they are all coming in small. All that crap on the inside is kind of remarkable, though. If I could make it work, I'd ask for at least a partial credit back since they sent you what anyone would consider seconds, or if they won't work at all I'd ask for a full refund.

Return these, get a refund, and pick up a pair of unsanforized Onis off of Rakuten.

At a glance, it looks like I'd be paying quite a bit more. Plus I'm not familiar with their fits.

14oz should be cheaper from Denimio or Rakuten. 517 fit is similar to G Slim and 527 is similar to G Straight.

@kyelpa as bentin said you can get the 14oz Oni's for cheaper than what you paid for the Gustins. bentin is also right regarding the fits, the 517 fit is simliar to the Gustin slim but better IMO. I have one pair of the 517xxbe.

and the 517xxbe (beige weft, 16.5 oz) for 194.12. Yeah it's a bit more than what you paid for the Gustins but you'll get a great pair of jeans with no QC issues.

And they'll be here by early next week. From Japan.

Tempting. The Gustin fabric is Loomstate, which I think is a little different than Oni's unsanforized and it is also heavier. I also usually wear Gustin's skinny fit, though with an unsanforized denim maybe I should go for a slim. I did find a "skinny fit" Oni on denimio... I'm definitely going to contact Gustin with the pics. I will probably end up returning them.
Thanks for the advice, everyone! I don't always agree with the anti-Gustin vibe going around recently - I have a lot of Gustin stuff I'm very happy with - but in this instance I'm pretty dissapointed.

Return them. Why would you keep them and how could you do anything with them? They are off spec and therefore will not fit you. Also, sewn up sloppy and written in. That's not what I expect for $170.

Well I'm not trying to come across as anti-Gustin at all, I'm just stating some facts. You didn't get what you paid for in this particular instance and wiith the Yen being so weak right now there has never been a better time to take advantage of that. You can take your 170 bucks and get much more bang for your buck here. I haven't really heard anybody rant about the Gustin Zimb Loomstate fabric as being anything super special as of yet and I haven't seen a whole lot of pics either of people showing off the fabric. True, the G Zimbs are Loomstate but I can guarantee you that the Oni fabrics are superb. All I'm saying is that in your particular case I think it would be a wise choice to get your money back from G on this one and explore some of the Japanese options out there while the Yen is still weak.

Gustin needs to be competitive price wise. They need to offer good fabrics. If they don't they will fade by the way side for denim.
