I received a pair of Super Heavys today, and I'm impressed. All the workmanship is solid, the fit is spot on, and they were delivered ahead of schedule. The patch is the heavy raw one, not the crappy thin one - nice touch. In contrast to my Heavy Americans, the Super Heavys have a really unique texture with a bunch of warp/weft contrast that really looks like something special and unique. I had a series of disappointing/botched deliveries from Gustin last summer and fall that left me ready to give up, but this pair of Super Heavys has me impressed and ready to try again. Do you feel tough while wearing them as the campaign promised? They look like they have a really cool texture, and it's good to hear you're happy with them. Be careful talking about heavy denim around here if you value your finances.

Be careful talking about heavy denim around here if you value your finances. Not sure if I feel tough as promised, but I do feel like they were a good investment. Comparing them to my Heavy Americans which now look more or less like medium blue Dad jeans, I'm happy that they look distinctive. Comparing them to the J17s I just received with stitching completely out of place, I'm glad that the construction is sound. And comparing them to the patch on by Bright Wefts (as well as every other Gustin product I've ever received), the patch is appropriate for a premium product. Really, these Super Heavys are so much better than the stuff I've gotten from Gustin in the past that I'm wondering if they're using a different shop for their "premium" offerings. Or, maybe they just kicked QC into high gear. Either way, I'm happy with what I received. I hope they keep it up.

Yeah, I haven't heard any complaining about QC with the Super Heavys, and they've had several offerings so far of them. I have a pair as well, and they were sewn spot on, which is bad because I'm bigger now than I was six months ago.

Your J17'S have QC issues? They showed up with the fly sewn through the leg. Someone had the fabric doubled over while sewing and didn't realize it. Apparently nobody checked very closely either.

Old26, how about this! RIT purple dye worked perfect. Gustin Japanese 13'ners.
I was bored and did this with my #71 American Classics last night. Now they are a TRUE purple American Classic!!! I used the RIT dye like you did and they came out pretty much the same color as yours. I got sick of waiting for IndigoXPurple jeans, so just did it myself.

Gaseous: damn it looks new still. You gotta do some actual work in it. I love mine and wore it all the time but had to stop bc it got maybe a little too dirty so wiped it some and it has Hung over winter. I feel like Steve mcqueen in it but dont think anyone Else really likes it. Maybe i dont go with the color. Whatever... its my favourite shell jacket!

Would love to see one that's seen some abuse. I've been wanting a waxed trucker for a while, but never pulled the trigger.

I took delivery of my trucker back in Nov '14, but old man winter has prevented me from wearing it with any frequency. I also have a Filson tin cloth short cruiser that's been worn once. I agree though, it's a great jacket.

Here are several shots of my Gustin #79 Loomstates that show pre-soak / post-soak sizing, texture pre-wear, and everything again after 1 year of very consistent wear. I started them off with a pre-soak by wearing them in a room-temp bath for an hour, then did one more soak at 5.5 months, and finally one more soak at 10 months with a bit of woolite. I've been hand-darning the small blowouts for now in an effort to keep them in good form for a while longer... Let me know what you think! Cheers!

Awesome loomstates! Do you only wear those? Or are they part of a rotation?

Thanks! Sort of both... they dominate my rotation. I wear some other Naked and Famous stuff (I have to,... I live in Montreal), but I wore these about 5 times a week for the past year.

Nice! And thanks for all the 'welcomes', though it feels a bit odd--even though I rarely posted to the old G community board, I followed it pretty closely. It's too bad that turned into a mess, but I'm glad to see you guys all migrated over here together. Maybe you were always here regardless?... Either way, it's good to see some familiar faces.

Griffin: yep, it's filthy alright. my question is, how the heck do you clean a waxed canvas jacket that has that much dirt embedded into it? damp sponge and brush? Have you considered rewaxing your jacket? I'm tempted to take some Otterwax to mine but i'd like to get more mileage out of it before doing so. you're right though, mine's pristine compared to yours.

It actually looks more worn and less dirty irl tho. I can still wear it to work and look respectable. Im gonna get some pics in the sunligt when the weather gets hotter.
I dont really want more wax on it, its Nice to be able to use it in car and sit in sofas and that. Wouldnt mind a more wet look tho.
I think a spounge with a tiny bit of mild natural detergent would work. You probably will take off even more wax tho.

These J17s still feel pretty tight in the top block. Digging them a lot though. Hopefully they loosen up.

Ha. Marathon paper towel dispenser rolls. Our supply closet/bathroom at work.
Seriously though. Too tight?
