Big Bill looks interesting...I like the classic patterns and color schemes. Looks like you can get them for the same price on American websites. Fit looks boxy though....is there a fit guide anywhere?

Ickes, I think Rakuten may have the size guide. My concerns are more about finding the correct size after the shrinkage

FTR, Gap has some great heavyweight flannels on the rack right now, and they are in deep discount season. The ursa heavyweight flannel is a great looking shirt.

Do you have a guess on the weight? Btw, the buttons on my Gustin HSWS look exactly the same as the one on the Gap Flannel.

stinky do you have one of those flannels? how is the sizing? i haven't tried on anything at the gap in several years, but just looked at the fit guide for that ursa flannel and they seem massive (except the neck). the xs starts at a 38-40" chest and basically doesn't taper at all to a 37-39.5" waist...but has a 13.5" neck? (is this really what passes as an xs these days?)

If I had to guess on the weight, I'd say probably 10oz. Keep in mind that I have no clue what I'm talking about and it's just a guess, but the fabric is heavy and substantial. I buy everything in large from Gap, and I got this in a L and it's a bit bigger than a normal Gap L, but I wanted it a bit big to wear over long sleeved Ts and long sleeve waffle Ts during our balmy Chicago fall. I think it's a no-brainer purchase at $35-$40. I usually wear a M in JCrew regular cut, and a L in JC slim cut, and I find the M Gap regular cut just a bit too restricting across the back so I always go L from them. I'm wearing the ursa plaid in my LD review pic from yesterday:

To follow up of my last post, the JcPenney shirt above is all sold out online. When I go to the store, smaller size (S,M) are pretty gone and I scored the last one in brown.
Man... except some distance relative who I don't know will buy me an Iron Heart Heavy Flannel shirt for Christmas, I am probably going to rock this JCPenney shirt until January....

Bought the burgundy jcp St. John's bay flannel. 25$ couldn't pass it. Very thick 8-9oz if I had to guess.
It's not iron heart of course but for the money hard to beat.

I believe you bought the same shirt that I mentioned above. I got the brown one and I really like it. People should really check that out... Btw, I wear Gustin M and the small size fits me "perfectly". It is not even boxy.

hey! i have a G shirt that looks just like that!
well, not really.
it only has a single pocket.
said pocket isn't pattern-aligned.
the placket also isn't pattern-aligned.
it has shitty little buttons.
it has three shitty little buttons on the collar.
it doesn't have a collar liner.
mine cost $50 more.
but other than that, i think we've got the same shirt!

ickes I looked at both the gap and JCP St. John's bay. I thought the JCP was a bit better material. Neither are as thick or brushed like IH is. IH does a single/double brush which makes the shirt more soft and wind resistant!

Btw, no distance relative pull through for me during this holiday.... so no IH shirt..... boo...

IH does a single/double brush which makes the shirt more soft and wind resistant! Full disclosure: the only reason I am partial to the Gap shirts is that there is a store 1/2 block from my office. If it were JCP, then I'd be posting up a shitton of JCP flannels. Having said that, the Gap flannels marked "heavyweight" are the real deal with nice details (such as a hanger loop on the outside of the shirt underneath the collar, and blue buttonhole/thread on the bottom button), and impossible to ignore for me given the deep discounting this time of the year.

For me, GAP wins on:
Sales Good product Full array fo sizes in Tall from Small to XXXL! How the f*ck do you beat that?
I have a bunch of stuff that I bought this past summer/fall that is worn now almost daily. Most of it I got at a huge discount too.
Sure, I'd love me some high-soot gear now and then, but almost nobody makes shirts in my size. To hell with them I say!

I like both Gap and JCP. Gap by far has better items as far as quality goes. But honestly jcp can hit a homerun every now and then.
@middleaged - $250 for the 102, $295 for the 107, $190 for the 62.
IH is better don't get me wrong but for $24 St. John's bay flannel is perfect. Not even close to IH construction or details but it's nice especially nice for the price.
