Regarding man-baggery, I usually have a messenger or something that I'm carrying, varying size depending on what I need to have with me (camera, gloves in winter, random work stuff, etc). "You know who else carried a satchel? Indiana Jones."

Honestly who uses a man bag here? Purse, satchel, tote etc. No not a backpack or brief case but a man bag. I have a $6 tote I got for a beach bag if that counts and a gym athletic duffle bag. I can't see myself using a canvas tote or leather. this has been discussed each time a photo of the g tote appears...people asking who would actually carry a man bag...and others responding that they would/do/or why they're handy. i'm not sure why it incites such a reaction...or why it matters...don't like it, don't buy it...i won't*. lawless, filson, orvis, ll bean...and others...all sell totes geared for people with testicles...i'm guessing there is some market or no one would offer them. *but i do carry a blue lounge postal bag some times which functions as a messenger bag or a tote bag. i carry it in the configuration that makes most sense for what i'm carrying at the time. i'm guessing i've only been mistaken for a woman once or twice while it was in the tote config.

I don't remember who asked for this but here's a few pics of my Japan Union Blues next to my Okayamas for color reference. JUBs on the right, Okayamas on the left; imgur.com/a/UQwbIOverall I really like the JUBs and they are exactly what I expected them to be. Great pair for summer. I didn't ask for it, but that color is right in the range I tend to look for lately. That or just a bit lighter...or like the "vintagecast" that naked and famous had out there. dark blue is good, but I think a little lighter has just a touch more character. But...as I have said before, Naked and Famous do not fit me. Bummer. i think Gustin's cerulean broken twill campaign which mysteriously vanished into thin air last year was the same as either the vintagecast or royalcast. i'd be tempted to back it if they ever brought it back.

I thought N&F and Gustin shared several fabrics, until they got in a denim fight over on reddit and N&F claimed something about manufacturing their fabric. I never looked into it to figure out if it's true, though I can't imagine a Canadian would tell a lie.

Also, I see in the tote campaign that they are following my lead of always having a kitty in frame when you post your Gustin ;-)

Ohmahgawd the moss herringbone please magically turn into a WS! Wow I really like that fabric. Probably have to drop out of the Grey Shadow campaign to get them. The indigo looks great, too. A little bit confused on the source of the fabric since the campaigns list both Italy and Japan. EDIT: guess I'll go with Japan due to the announcement email, and that they look like a wider herringbone pattern than the Italian.

I wish that Chambray was a workshirt since I'm done with button-down collars (have too many).

I STRONGLY CONCUR with the comments above. The moss herringbone and heavy chambray should be work shirts.

I want the indigo herringbone, too. If I could verify that this fabric is coming from the same factory as the wabisabi, I wouldn't think twice. Damn you Gustin.

I can say that Gustin does a great job at not tempting me on anything new. The herringbones are too light for me as jeans, but would make decent work shirts, and wouldn't want the chambray as a button down. It would have been nice for them to sew a sample shirt from the chambray to display, instead of the swatch. Oh well, money saved!

Not unless those are broken twill. Pretty sure gustin's cerulean broken twill was the same as the n&f vintagecast or royalcast...though can't really tell which since there were never any in the wild.

Hi all,
Are recent arrivals sewing up on spec to waist size? I've had to send many 33 slims back because they measured 32-32.5", but have two measuring on spec at 33.5", so I don't know whether to go up a size for the moss herringbones. I've placed an order for 34" slims to be conservative, but 34.5" waist will be too big for me. What should I do? Order both sizes & sell the one that doesn't fit?
B.

My 33 slims have been coming in right about 33.5-34 on the waist. 16ers, JUBs, JRI, Japan Olive, Shine came in a little under, around 33.25.

I was going to guess the other way around because I thought the herringbone looks exactly the same size and pattern as the postals, which are Candiani. Wherever they come from, they are both stunning. I'd be all over them both if I wasn't already fully stocked on jeans for the time being. And that chambray...oh mah gawd. That is like someone read my mind and designed a Mattbert bait fabric. Want a shirt in that so bad, just not either of the shirts that Gustin makes. /sadpanda

All the 35 and 36 Straights I've received since August have been within 0.5" of the spec waist size. I would stick with the 33 if I were you, Subsound.

What I'm hoping for is something near the texture of the wabisabi, but without the vertical lines sewn in it, and I think these might end up pretty close to that, though they're spec'd an ounce heavier, which is probably a good thing? I dunno, I want them on my legs!

(though you might have some luck if you go thrifting with @untucked). Counter-point, you've had some chintzy luck with "crowd-sourced", and you can find stuff that's interesting in different ways at any end of season sale for almost any major clothing marque. There is no international shipping for me. Just an extended delay with the military postal service. And I have tried the thrift shopping here. Depending on the manufacturer, I am between a 34 and 36 waist. The recycle stores here (not really thrift shops, more of consignment shops) don't carry much at 34+. And a lot of the neat-o japanese denims that I would want at those places still go for $80+. The weird thing is, they hardly give you any money for things you sell to the recycle shops and they sell it for a ton more. Imagine goodwill or the salvation army selling clothes for half of retail and then not giving any of the proceeds to charity. Sometimes there are deals, but still...not my size. I do get some crazy stuff there for cheap like cups and plates and this pooping goose that I got for 200yen.
