Plus, it says in the description of the Italy Sky's that they are butter soft. I like my Powder Blues and they are soft but I probably wouldn't describe them as butter soft. I mean, they're soft...somewhat buttery soft, but not totally buttery soft, just soft. I'm imagining that if I wore the buttery soft Italy Skys with one of my buttery soft Gustin flannels that I would be covered in buttery softness. What a buttery feeling that would be....

I wonder if Gustin has ever considered releasing Gustin branded butter sticks?
Your refrigerator will never be the same. We cut out the farmers and source directly from the cow, meaning you get all the buttery goodness at true wholesale.

If they did that, the butter that you received would have a 70% of matching the published butter stick dimensions and the wrappers wouldn't completely line up when folded properly. Also, there'd be that one guy that would be trying to fit the butter stick in his toaster and complaining that it's not the right color for the application.

They couldn't say that the butter sticks are buttery soft because that's just too obvious. Plus, buttery is reserved for the buttery soft flannels and the buttery soft Italy Skys. Maybe they could say the the G butter sticks are" GUSTIN flannel soft" which, as we all know, basically means buttery soft.

Leather has always been referred to in that way, but not fabrics. Just odd. I think they should say they're like "I can't believe it's not butter". Since it's less fattening, and your jeans will come in small and all...

Not sure if you guys noticed this or not, but the Italy Sky Blue denim is butter soft. And supple.
It's also the same style and quality that is sold in boutiques all over the country for $205+.

I'm sure you could find the Japan Sky in any boutique for $205+. Nah, it was one of the quick cancels. Fire and sky canceled while olive survived. If they were anything like the olive (weight or texture) they would have been great. But everyone who moved over here was making fun of them and they went down the memory hole. Found it, you guys prolly still hate the color.

I don't remember who asked for this but here's a few pics of my Japan Union Blues next to my Okayamas for color reference. JUBs on the right, Okayamas on the left; imgur.com/a/UQwbIOverall I really like the JUBs and they are exactly what I expected them to be. Great pair for summer.

Should have returned them because they weren't anything like their fabric picture, but that was 6+ months ago.

All jokes aside, I'd totally get that bag for the gf if she was into carrying bags, but she isn't. The last tote was really nice looking too, but she said she wasn't interested.

Honestly who uses a man bag here? Purse, satchel, tote etc.
No not a backpack or brief case but a man bag.
I have a $6 tote I got for a beach bag if that counts and a gym athletic duffle bag. I can't see myself using a canvas tote or leather.

Honestly who uses a man bag here? Purse, satchel, tote etc. Me, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I have 4. 2 leather, 2 canvas. I also have an RRL canvas tote which is useful for a second carry-on. I find "man bags" really useful and use them every day to go to work, but then I am European and fully in touch with my feminine side.

I didn't ask for it, but that color is right in the range I tend to look for lately. That or just a bit lighter...or like the "vintagecast" that naked and famous had out there. dark blue is good, but I think a little lighter has just a touch more character. But...as I have said before, Naked and Famous do not fit me. Bummer.

Agreed, those Italy Skys look damn good and you can't beat that price. Great summer pair for sure but they look so damn similar to the Italian Powder Blues which I already own; www.weargustin.com/store/717But I'm still tempted Since you guys speak of the Italy Skies. Need advice. Should I break my "no more gustin...EVER" rule and buy those sky blues? 10oz is awesome and I like lighter denim. This is a serious question, brahs. I got the money, but should I give the money to Gustin?

I got the money, but should I give the money to Gustin? They've frustrated me on a few things, primarily their QC on shirts and delayed deliveries on Chinos, but overall I have never had an issue with any denim I've bought from them. Deliveries have been good on those and construction on all of my pairs have been solid. Having said that, I'll likely go in a different direction for a while and try more premium/mainstream brands just to mix it up. And I still haven't tried Lawless or Ciano out yet. Also, the Canadian dollar plunging against the $US makes Gustin not quite the deal it was before. Tate+Yoko are offering a 15% discount right now for shipping to a Canadian address...

Im trying to write an opinion of the Italian Sky based on the Japan Union Blue as a comparison. The JUB warp literally feels like sand paper and will probably be the raw denim that finally kills the seat in my car. There is a sheen to it that, as I was wearing them, actually reminds me of the Japan Shine, which I thought was really odd. I'm not sure if it's a finish on the fabric, or just a visual effect of the prominent weft show-through. The color is a bit of a steely blue, I like it quite a bit.
The campaign pictures for the Italian Sky look a lot like the JUB. Being Italian, however, I expect more even coloring, butter smooth warp, and very little starch. This analysis of fabric I've never touched, combined with reports from those that have pairs from earlier campaigns, makes me think I wanna back them, but then I'd be adding to the collection of way too many jeans. It has a slubby look, though, which makes me think maybe they're not for me. The price balances the counter-point and makes them extra-attractive, though.

This is a serious question, brahs. I got the money, but should I give the money to Gustin? At this point I think the Gustin jeans are coming out pretty solid. They are exhibiting some inconsistencies on the legs, but I don't want to do the science to see how common this is, so as long as the jeans don't look all funny I'm not pulling out the tape to measure all the way down the leg for consistency -- that's a long way of saying I noticed a minor inconsistency on the JUB I just received, but it's not enough to make me rummage through the garage for a pitchfork. I think at that price-point you'd be hard-pressed to find something that unique. I mean, let's be honest, I know you have to deal with international shipping, but that price is "full retail on non-selvedge Levi's", and you're never going to find raw Levi's in a store at that price (though you might have some luck if you go thrifting with @untucked). So, as far as enablement, since this meets several criteria for jeans you would like, I say go for it. Counter-point, you've had some chintzy luck with "crowd-sourced", and you can find stuff that's interesting in different ways at any end of season sale for almost any major clothing marque.

I haven't taken all measurements on my JUBs yet but fwiw fellas I measured the waist and cuff opening quickly last night and the waist is dead on, 34.5" on my 34 slims. The cuff however...well one leg is almost .5" wider than the other. Not enough that I'll return them but still, not ideal.

I can't see myself using a canvas tote or leather. I use the "tote" version of the Filson briefcase, but all it really changes is adding leather tote straps and removing the zipper I never used under the button-over flap. I like the option to carry the bag by the tote straps in situations like running to catch the bus, but usually carry it over the shoulder in which case it looks like a normal Filson brief. I think without the shoulder strap, over-top closure, and other Filson accents it would be firmly in "man bag" territory. I personally would never carry something with an open top and only tote handles unless it had diapers or groceries in it. Beach/boat bag? Sure. Throw my keys and cell phone in there? GTFO.
