I don't like mine as much as i thought i would. Someone accurately described them as looking like leopard spots here. I wore them pretty frequently last winter because of the weight, but beasts have relegated them to the back of the closet. Now... you say this.... I only got one jeans from Lawless during the 50% sales and I think the fabric I picked is the same as the Super Heavy Slub. The were only $40 but I should go for something else... never have a pair of jeans that have slub on them.... Feel like a jerk forgetting who off the top of my head, but a couple people have posted the results of overdying slub denim (cone pima and the heavy slub, I think), and they do really cool things when exposed to brown or persimmon dye. Just be careful of your indigo dye bleed -- prolly a good idea to do a couple soaks to get the loose indigo off before you dye them.

Thanks. I believe they are already in production and I will soak them before my first wear... don't like indigo bleeding very much.

I really wish they'd murder out those rivets, but I just got on board for the ventile, I guess. sized it up so I can wear a t-shirt, a button-down, a workshirt, a sweatshirt, my charcoal chore, and then the ventile can go right on top of that. !!!
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

new drops up... Super Heavy Slubs Coal Chore Coat Heavy Indigo ChambrayGrey Black Wool Scarf Why is it $5 cheaper now? They mention having gotten a great deal on the fabric in the release email, I thought. Everyone complains when the price goes up, and complains when the price goes down.

I ended up canceling the waxed dark oak and backed the ventile. I mean, I actually wanted to get both, if I really didn't care about my credit card bill. I figured that ventile is more rare than the dark oak. same. not sure i need another chore coat hanging next to my waxed charcoal one though. exact same boat. They definitely look different, and I'm intrigued by the fabric, so I'm definitely swinging back and forth on it. Mostly because the way I use the coat, the bigger pockets annoy me (want them at an angle) but it's handy to just be able to drop stuff in there and have a reasonable belief that it will remain in there for a while as long as I don't hang upside down. You can also see into them when stuff is in there, which is handy from a working on stuff perspective. Anyway, still thinking about it, think it'd be great over a heavy hoodie when it's colder, and really great when it's warmer, much more versatile than the waxed cotton, in any case (since the waxed can be worn between about 45 and 65 degrees), and the days in Colorado often have twice that delta in temperature.

Posted pics on the post your gustin thread. Now my favorite pair of G's.

indigoferanut: Yeah and @stevekas did the persimmon on the naturals and pima fires. I linked your post over on G-Comm, too.

So is the High Density Coal actually Ventile fabric? If so, surprised it's not going for more $$$

So is the High Density Coal actually Ventile fabric? If so, surprised it's not going for more $$$ That's why they were approached to change what they call it by the people using the Ventile name. This happened before I was frequenting the community, but some guys in here might be able to shed a little more light on it. As I understand it, same fabric, same weave, but the Ventile name is a registered trademark so they can't use that.

I'm thinking of backing Super Heavy Slub. Has anybody received a previous run of Super Heavy Slub? Any reviews or comments? i have 'em. i'd recommend going for the SH over the SHS. the SHS is so damn stiff and uncomfortable.

Most of the feedback I've received hasn't been overwhelmingly positive about SHS. I think I'm going to pass on these ones. I would like a 18oz+ denim for the winters though. For the overly starched denim, I usually cold soak them before wearing to soften them up a little.

Yes i'm not convinced by the Super heavy Slub even if it sounds nice, because of the leopard spots look. If you like slubby denim check Oni, i have one and the slug effect is much more subtle but still visible ! I checked out Oni, the effect looks beautiful, a bit out of my price range though.

I have Italy ixi. I nicely deep indigo. Definitely over dyed. But that's about it - nothing interesting about it in terms of texture and fit. I got a pair because I wanted Indigo x indigo.

The Japan BLACKXGREY is the perfect black denim I've been waiting for. But at its price-point, sadly, I'll have to pass. Shux!
And the new picture of the blazer appears to be the best model of it so far. I was really skeptical of the past teases. Any guesses on the price they'll drop this with?!

For the overly starched denim, I usually cold soak them before wearing to soften them up a little. I guess I will be the one advocate for the super heavy slubs. Thus far, I'd say they are my favorite pair of jeans yet. The are very stiff and crunchy and the pattern is indeed very different from most other denims, but these are things that brought me to them in the first place. They are like nothing else I have and I can't wait for them to break in properly. As far as the leopard effect, I can definitely see that, but it is in no way over-flashy, just a neat deviation from the norm. I'd say if you are intrigued by them to go for it.

the leopard effect grabs looks, so it's a bit flashy though it doesn't feel as if it is (until you catch people looking at them as you walk past). i was at a hockey game in them last week and tried dropping down to the aisle in front of me to get out at intermission so as not to disturb the folks at the end of my aisle and almost fell because i couldn't get my trailing leg to bend correctly since the SHS are so stiff.

I'm a little bumped with the Gustin email title adding heavyweight flannel in there then just doing blue cloud and rocket flannel at 6oz. I nearly shit a brick figuring there would be a true heavyweight flannel.

yeah, I definitely would not consider 6oz a heavyweight flannel.

yeah, I definitely would not consider 6oz a heavyweight flannel. Not even close. Multiple people have said something about it on the community forum.
