Well, the killer GAP run came to an end tonight. Kinda glad because I guess I'd be pissed if I could get this good stuff across the board so cheap. The two other grey shirts I got tonight were not nearly as substantial, and the fit/cut was kinda Old Navy-like. Not bad shirts, and for about $34 a piece, still OK. Just not nearly as nice as the other two, which I love. One had a button one tiny thread from falling off too, so I cut it off and threw 'em all in the cold wash. Their shirts smell like a factory, so I just tossed 'em in. All in all, I'd say I got two great shirts and two OK shirts for about $140 total. That's one awesome shirt by Gustin, or maybe two by LD. Time will tell what they have...

You can tuck it into white jeans. That's how.

As you can see I added some suspender button to the to give them a bit of a twist. The great thing about repro brands becoming mainstream is that brands like Gap & Jcrew are starting to put copy cat products out but of course affordable to the masses Well, dammitall, if this stuff goes mainstream how are we going to be able to tell the real pretend coal miners from the poseur pretend coal miners?

I love being part of the underground scene.

It's as "mainstream" as it's gonna get at this point. Which, BTW, there is a lot of. Look at how many brands have "work shirts". Not saying any of them are good/bad, but it's everywhere. Even places considered "preppy" like GAP and JCREW. Getting it done right is another story. I washed the two new GAP arrivals and they're not as bad as I felt last night. Just comparing to the first two, they are not as big and not as substantial, weight wise.

agree. it's already pretty mainstream when old navy and the gap are featuring work shirts. it's not a bad thing, and such things will come and go at those places. i saw a work shirt at costco the other day and started laughing...even though i do know a few guys who buy a lot of their clothes there and would put a solid work shirt to good use.

I'm looking quite handsome today in my new $35 Gap workshirt. Also picked up a couple of henleys, including one that is indigo dyed.

How heavy? The Chambray looks nice too. I like the bedford cords but they don't offer it in a regular fit. slim fit doesn't work for me

gaseousclay i'd say ~10oz. it's a decent weight and has a very feint vertical striping to the denim which i've grown to like.

Ordered a couple more GAP shirts. 60% off and I got a couple for $13.99 each. Seriously, I know they're not IH, but hell, under $15 for a XXL Tall shirt? Cut is good too, so why not. Also got on the cream colored cord jackets. $33? Yeah, WTF, it's worth it to have for days on the beach, etc.

You could pair that suit with these shoes:

I haven't pulled the trigger on these GAP shirts yet but at these prices I would imagine they would be hard to beat.

Yeah, even the one I got that underwhelmed me at first has grown on me. Just was expecting a heavier material, but I've worn it a few times and it's really a good shirt. Half of my problem now is that I'm just not in great shape, and at my age, loss of muscle tone becomes obvious. Need to get back into a routine...

Their shirts smell like a factory, I just noticed this comment . . . when i opened the package last night, I thought the same thing. Had to wash everything right away. They had a really strong industrial odor that I've never noticed when I've shopped at the store.

The Gap Work shirt and the J Crew Work shirt, which I have, are almost exactly the same. Could be made in the same factory.

Gap and J Crew are the same company. not technically. jcrew's ceo used to be the ceo of gap, but they're not under the same umbrella. the gap owns b.republic, old navy, and i think one or two other brands, but jcrew is a different company and i think is only associated with one other 'budget' brand (though i don't recall what that brand is atm)

For some reason BReps and JCrew are always synonymous in my head. /me respectfully hangs his head in shame.
