I just picked up my first pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile boots in the Courtland style. Thanks to bugula for the link referral on the deal. Initially, I was a little hesitant about getting an imperfect looking pair of boots or an obvious pair of seconds - but these are first rate and beautiful right out of the box. It is my first experience with Wolverine, and I opted to size down a half size based on all of the reviews/recommendations. A couple of pics available here. Sizing: As I mentioned, I sized down a 1/2 size to 9.5 (US) from my normal boot size of 10. There is still a very small amount of room, but I think the fit will be perfect with heavier socks in the colder months, but lightweight socks also fit comfortably. I think sizing down to a 9 would have been too much. Comfort: Very comfortable right out of the box. Not too stiff to break-in. The leather is very soft (horween) and the boots aren't to clunky or heavy. Style/Color: As noted, I opted for the Courtland style. Two reasons - I like the moc toe look, it's a little dressier than the plain toe boot and will also enable me to provide some direct compare/contrast when my KS Thursday Boot Company Naturals arrive. The color is a chocolate brown, with some slight hint of rust to them, but I think it may be more of a lighting effect. I think they pair up nicely with denim (Gustin Japan Standards in the pics). Really happy to score these for a little less than retail. Next purchase - Red Wings as I work my way up the boot hierarchy.

Yeah, mine came in over the weekend - I got the cordovan style. Beautiful and comfortable boots, glad you took the chance!
Red Wings, if you're going for IRs are the rung below these as RW has some notorious QC issues. I bought both styles (1000 Miles and IRs) last week and am wearing the IRs for the first time today. They're not nearly as comfortable as the 1000 milers and they're heavy as hell (not that that's a bad thing). I wish I'd gone for another pair of the 1000 milers with a cap toe over them.

I am a huge 1k fan (can tell by my avatar) and I am glad that you like yours. The IR is nice too and I think their styles are a bit different. I like both.

matt I have been really impressed with mine so far. I've had them for about two months and they are pretty much my go to footwear at this point. I wear them with suits, jeans paired with a jacket and tie, and chinos (possibly with jacket and tie). I know it is not good to wear the same shoe everyday, but I just really like them. I guess the solution is to get a second pair in a slightly different shade of brown I do rotate the Beckmans in once in a while but since someone here referred to them as McD or clown toed, I just can't unseen that when I look at them.

nice. i wore my 1ks quite a bit while in oaxaca, really comfortable for walking all day. i like the overall look of my iron rangers more, but the break in period is night and day difference...the IRs taking months, the 1ks taking hours.

thanx matt, i just saw the link in the right section (post above edited) but unfortunatly, they don't ship overseas !!!! very good price, it's a shame.... Btw, i was very interested by the thursday boots because of the very close looking with the alden indy. But these wolverine seems very close too to this style with better quality. What are the differences between alden and wolverine because the price is quite différent !!!

You're also paying some for the last development. I went with the Wolverine Courtlands and am debating about whether to save up for some Alden Indy's or to get a second pair of Courtlands.

I just went to this site and saw the Wolverine Krause in Burgundy here: www.fsfashionny.com/wolverine-krause-1000-mile-boot-brown-men.html#.VF1dGsnsqxYI bought two pairs (black and burgundy) of these (not from this site) and they are supposed to be nicer (retail: $550) than the regular 1K boots. I know it is more expensive but you may want to do some research on them if you are thinking about a pair of cap toe 1K.

I also have the Courtland. I got them for a good discount and I think they had been sitting in a room for quite a while, maybe years. They arrived a bit dry looking. I used some renovateur and they came to life immediately. I really like them. A good addition to the collection, especially if you are not ready to spring for Alden Indys.

Also, the Krause are made by Allen Edmonds. They run a little wider than the standard 1k. I have a pair in black and love them. I also have the McClean captoe 1k in brown that I got on eBay.

Thanks all, good info in here. Enjoying my 1k's and was debating a set of Krause but don't really love the lasts on most of my AE's, so may rethink them.

I think AE and Wolverine co-developed that last for the Krause. No AE shoes is allowed to use it.
