Posted about lawless on dappered.con forum quickly closed it down thinking it was spam. Didn't check the internet at all today over there and they said it was spam. Apparently lawless has a horrible reputation. Facebook, yelp and other forums. Lawless def needs a reboot of in the reputation department. I haven't received anything from lawless yet and I am a bit nervous how this is going to work out. Frankly, if not someone on this forum has stopped by Lawless store, I would be concern too. Nothing better than having more product reviews on the web.

They should have waited until good reviews started coming in from the KS campaign before this 50% off madness.

Well, at 30-40 bucks per shirt, it's probably a decent gamble to try a couple.

I take all the negative stuff as a bunch of people realizing that the markup on denim is/has been insane. Having spoken to Roman on the phone a few times and having matt actually having seen items and production facility in person is enough for me to not bash or gush until having product in my hands.
What frustrates me is that I think a lot of people are being overly negative and overly positive without actually having seen anything themselves.

If I read Lawless correctly, I want to support a company that really want to shake things up. I love Gustin back in the start days but I feel they are moving away from their brand promise.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely want them to succeed. That's a big part of why I helped with some of the technical stuff on the new site. Having spoken with Roman I can say he is a stand up guy and that I love the vision he has and what he wants to accomplish. At the same time I can neither bash nor gush over their products because I have not actually ever held/touched/wore any of their products. It just feels like there is a camp of people bashing their jeans and a camp praising them and maybe a handful, if that, of people in either camp have actually seen a Lawless product up close and personal.

Fair points by all and thanks jbreitenbucher for your thoughts. I appreciate the opportunity to report back on what I see/handle/photograph at Roman's shop. Despite how it comes across sometimes on her, I'm not a total fanboy for these places sight unseen. I'm very particular where I spend my money and I'm always looking for value for my investment. During the KS campaign, I was taking a lot of the feedback from guys on the Gustin forum, their concerns, etc. and took them all to Roman and asked him straight-up. I figured, I could have always unbacked my KS at the time if I didn't like his answers or attitude towards the questions. He was honest, and as a lot of you have seen on here, transparent about any question I asked (even the dreaded Yelp review).Unfortunately, good or bad, there's always going to be "extremists" in this format (forums/communities) - they wouldn't be here if they weren't passionate. I think for the most part, this is a great group of people. I can see where some more "established" brands are a little more clickish and perhaps dickish about Lawless (and even Gustin at first) - the cat's out of the bag - we're getting quality goods that equal the higher-end products and not paying nearly as much. I know the Yelp review has been beaten into the ground here - it's a closed thread that all newbies to the forum can review. They've got a 4.7/5 on FB - 5 negative reviews in total with only 2 people actually taking the time to write a review - and both seemed more impatient than willing to let Lawless remedy it. I think we do need to remember that Roman and Lawless is a small craft shop - it's going to get bigger, but we need to exercise patience throughout the build process and hope others do the same. Anyone involved in the small business process knows how many growing pains there are during this time.

I agree with you. My thought process is to help a young company that has potential to achieve it's goals. This is definitely not the first time I try to provide information to help a startup company. Frankly, I think everyone from this forum are doing it.

Roman basically closed his forum because he appreciates the feedback from this collective group. He mentioned to me (and I heard DD say it as well) that they intend to facilitate more feedback from us as things progress. It's fun being an investor...I guess these are wearable stock options.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been shut down if you had put the thread in the proper forum. Instead of the main forum, if you had put it in the deals forum, it would have had a fighting chance. Also, you posting it up and disappearing didn't help matters. No reason to make a big deal out of this. To anyone else who doesn't know about LD, it really would have seemed like a spam post.

Figured it would have fit into the main forum fine since we didn't have a lawless thread. Secondly I do have a life away from the internet mens fashion sites. I was at the range all day for firearms qualifications. brentkuz I am sure Lawless appreciates you trying to spread the word. I don't know why your post was deleted. Do you? You could message a moderator about it if you felt it was taken down in error. I wouldn't think it was taken down because of the reputation of Lawless. Not posting to the correct thread etc can get things deleted as we know. I knew if I posted to certain forums as a newer user it would probably get taken down also. Some forums are strict. Remember Mr. Randal? I posted to a few haunts that I frequent and have a history and they were appreciated as everyone likes a good deal. Did you hit any bulleyes?

I haven't seen the product in hand but there are pics on this forum -- I mean, Derek got his murdered out jeans from Roman the other day, and from what I can tell they look excellent. For one thing, it's impressive that the options are so flexible at Lawless (all the choices and custom fit), so for me it's worth the risk if Roman comes through -- as he has, clearly, for Derek and Matt to name two examples. Are their experiences one-offs? I doubt it. I reserve judgment until my jeans show up, however. But I'm pretty confident, given these examples, that they'll be well-made, esp for the price! Roman's also suggested that he keeps working with people, so if we're not happy I suspect he'll make it right.

Figured it would have fit into the main forum fine since we didn't have a lawless thread. But how would the main forum be a place for a Lawless sale thread as LD's first thread? It's a place for advice, and experiences with certain brands/styles. There's a deals section for a reason, even a dealers and manufacturers forum. The main forum would be for asking for or giving experiences with LD. Dropping a 50% off sale on LD products in the main forum could only be construed as spam. No reason to be surprised why they would close the thread down. Also, if they didn't close it down, and someone asked for your experiences and thoughts on LD products, as is usually the case in the main forum, would you be able to give any? I'm not trying to personally attack you, but it just wasn't very well planned, and probably ended up hurting LD's rep further in a site where a lot of people frequent.

It was mainly due to a high number of bad reviews on Yelp and FB, with very few good reviews, and lack of followup from OP. It made sense to close it. Pre-KS reputation is all they had to go off of, and it was a rather spammy thread to the casual viewer.

Yeah, Lawless needs more product reviews from consumers or people will not change their opinion.

I can give or take Dappered. there are plenty of other men's clothing/fashion forums out there

I've been banned from dappered for 10 days. They are nazi like there it is true in some aspects. Very nurturing and every kid gets a trophy type feel. No tough love. Tha main site is a perfect place for a lawless first thread. Just like Gustins first thread was in the main section and other brands or new items from a brand. It doesn't fit in any other section. It would be a perfect place for a Lawless Denim experiences and review thread. Not so much a 50% off Lawless Denim products thread.

Let me just say something. Since I have been setting up shop in a few places there has been some rumblings that we are telling you guys to shill or that we are doing the shilling. For instance a reddit mod sent me a very serious message telling me we better not be shilling or anything else illicit. Eventually I messaged him back & explained a few things & all is good now with the MOD offering to add a Lawless photo for the brand associates. He also offered to keep the lynching to a minimal lol. I think the way the launch happened likely scared people into thinking this was some planned assault so lets all be aware of the rules of some of these forums or at least aware that I like fatty foods

I posted the deal at Style forums, under the thread "street wear and denim" sub thread "official sales alert thread" which I thought was the proper place to post it. and I've already said what happened after that. I got an e-mail from emptym one of the "mods"... I'll post it here, and my response, if anyone's interested. Although he initially said he liked my jeans, it seemed condescending none the less, as he actually seems to think I am the owner of Lawless or something. Either way, my post was no different than any of the hundreds, if not thousands of others posted under the same thread.
Sorry if I'm being "fanboyish" about Lawless, but I have the product in hand. I'm very happy with my jeans. so much so, that I ordered 2 more and will order 2 shirts tomorrow before the promo ends.

Like I said, I don't think I could do the waxed denim, but the fit could hardly be better and the detail in the jeans is beautiful. You should do us all a favor and once you've got a year or so in those things give us some updated photos. I bet they'll do very cool things. I'm betting a lot of those guys that slammed Lawless publicly put in orders -- the deal is just too generous to beat -- and they'll know you're right come the new year, so no need to argue with anybody.
