FTR, the actual cost of shipping a 9x12 padded mailer (like G uses) to the UK is $25. One pair of jeans will fit in these padded mailers. Just pointing that out so that everyone is aware LD isn't raking in profits on Euro shipping.

In my country the margin is extremely low. everything over $30 will hit customs and go through the process of declaration and fees.
So for me its not cheaper per item.
I dont remember exactly, but something like this:
$79 Jeans $25 shipping $26 tax $26 handling the paying of the tax = $156 per jeans
$79 Jeans $79 Jeans $50 shipping $52 tax $26 handling the paying of the tax = $286 ($143 per jean)
$79 Jeans $79 Jeans $79 Jeans $75 shipping $78 tax $26 handling the paying of the tax = $416 ($139 per jean)
But also, in a way single items is good because its not as much you need to shell out everytime. I tried to have a constant flow from Gustin bc then there is small amount at backing and then small amount at picking up.
Its both plus and minus.
And yeah, if the item is under $30 then the shipping can be $200 without aving to pay, but if the item is over $30 then the combination of item(s) and shipping is to be payed "tax" on.

But hey Stinky, are we good? I think it was just a miscommunication we had right? I never meant anyone should pay for me, I hope you see that now. I also didn't mean to have a tone with you, remember English is my second language

Griffin : Isn't there a way that you can set up an account with the post office to automatically charge you for VAT (and thus avoid the broker fee)? I used to get whacked when I ordered Trickers, but i set up a FedEx account and I get direct charged for customs fees vs. going through FedEx's broker. I think the fees are so high because they risk not getting reimbursed (at least it's that way over here). Seems odd that you essentially have to pay a "tax tax," and there must be some way to avoid it.

I was referring to the current -50% price. At least in my country price+shipping stays under the customs margin but exceeds the VAT margin. I was under the impression that the rules are the same in each EU country while importing goods?

Seems odd that you essentially have to pay a "tax tax," and there must be some way to avoid it. I think there is a way, but its alot of hassle. I can look into it. The fee is because the handling of the import has become a "product of service" and its handled by local mail if no other is involved. And yes DHL can do it and so can UPS, and they all charge this "administration" fee. When I started importing Aero jackets 5 years ago the total price from DHL was about 25% The last jacket I got all the way here was 50% and there is no change in the VAT/MVA the only change is handling. Imaging having to pay $1500 for 1 $1000 item. When I got my Irvin last year I sent it to Sweden and picked up there. Since britain and Sweden is both in EU there are no tax. This is a greyzone bc its allowed to a certain amount (about $1000).

They are talking about making the margin higher but im not holding my breath.

To all other EU customers, I noticed that it is cheaper in fact to ship each item individually than to box them together as long as shipment is 25$ per item. We have to add customs and VAT once the items reach this side of the pond. But if the amount of customs fee is less than a certain margin, you will not have to pay it (as it is not feasible to collect such a small amount). The same goes for VAT in fact. Eg a pair of jeans is ~40$+25$. This exceeds the margin for VAT but not for customs, so you end up paying only the VAT. If you put two pairs of jeans in the same box, the amount (~80$+50$) exceeds both limits and you end up paying both the customs fee and the VAT. So by putting several items in the same box, you end up paying more per item. Make sense? It makes sense to me I also would prefer to receive my pants in individual packs. Like wdw i also had all my orders from Gustin stopped at customs...

With I think 14 items from Gustin so far, I've been hit for customs, handling etc every time but one. For jeans of say $100 I normally pay an additional £20, Chore Coats at $145 are £25 and a $200 item is about £30. Plus of course the higher individual international delivery, especially on the coats and jackets. I'm sick of it all now. I got hit twice out of five pairs of Gustins, but I don't regret buying any of them. That said, after my Lawless arrive, it'll need to be something pretty damn nice for me to take the overseas hit.

I know that there are a couple others that want the herringbone too! Ask & you shall receive. Roman has given me access to so much more so I can answer just about any question moving forward. Changes to your orders are included in my capabilities but please make sure you are sure of what you want so that there isnt some 3 page trail of emails with all the changes. It can get confusing so please for your own sake keep it nice and clean.
