straight vs slim vs skinny cuff sizing

I wish G would provide these. You'd be hard pressed to find the same person who has all three cuts (especially with Skinny being so new). You're not going to get a good feel for it unless you see them all laid out together or all three on the same model.

The Slims are still fairly wide at the ankle opening - I like my cuff to hug my boots and the Slim is able to easily move up and down (could stand to lose about another 1/4").

Looks of the Slim vs. Skinny have been asked for and I've not seen anyone post up their comparison yet. Reddit people have been asking weekly.

Yea G just doesnt get it when it comes to the hem. To me the hem so important. Anything more than 8.5 is sloppy 2me

Yeah, the cuff opening is way too big on the Straights if you go by the fit guide. The good news is the cuff opening on all my 35's and 36's has come in anywhere from 0.25" to 1.5" smaller than spec. That latter is, IMO, where the Straights should be: right around 17" for the cuff opening, give or take half an inch. The bad news is you shouldn't be counting on the cuff coming in WAY below spec in order for it to look good.

I also have one pair of 36 Slims. The cuff opening is 16", which is essentially bang on spec and also just about as small as I'd ever want to go.

Very good point re: footwear having a major impact on how the cuff opening suits you. That is really important.

I don't mind the low rise on the Slims at all; in some ways it's better for me than the Straights. What keeps me out of the Slims is how tight they are in the thigh and knee.

If Gustin would just give the Straights a gentle taper from knee to cuff (like a 1.5" to 2" drop, hell even 1" would be decent) instead of making them almost literally straight (0.25" to 0.5" drop in my size range), they'd be just about perfect. I cannot for the life of me understand why Gustin decided that their customers would definitely want a jean that thinks your ankle needs roughly the same amount of room as your knee. It's insane.

I am not understanding this trend of everyone comparing straights to bell bottoms. Did you guys all jump in a time machine and go back to 1986? Do you guys pegg your jeans too?...lol......being a bit dramatic here for affect.

But seriously, The straight cuff opening is perfect for me. I wear a 32 straight in G and wear a size 11-12 shoe fwiw.

How tall are you? I'm 5'11" and a size 9 - the straits engulfed my chucks (only got one pair straits and gave them away)

8.5 is way different than almost 10 inches for my 36 w.  The jump is unrealsitic.  Just because i have a 36 waist doesnt mean my calfs and ankles look like elephants

true...and actually most of mine are closer to 8" at the cuff

I'm 6'1", 32 straight in G.

I measured two - my Italian Blues (thanks Ickes) vs. the Japan Standards - both are 33 slim.

The JS measure barely 7.25" at the cuff opening (closer to 7 1/8"), the IBs measure 7.5". Pictures done quickly, but you can see the difference just with the JS on top of the Italian Blues. The measurements of my Japan Standards are in line with the skinny fit and the fit didn't exist when I originally received these. I'm not complaining at all - I tend to gravitate towards my JS, even with boots. It's probably as "skinny" as I'll go without looking painted on. If I up my leg routine, I may have to retire these.

Agreed. Anything over 8 is too much and I have to start thinking about the added cost of tapering them.
