I assume lots of folks here are on instagram. I don't have an account, but I lurk on a few accounts. Some are pretty cool. Of course our very own defy_delphi is great. What other handles do people keep an eye on?

Great thread Nate. I'd love to see examples of people who's style y'all respect. These two jump out, but I'll def keep more coming. Critiques are always welcome, no hurt feelings, it's all about feedback. Dnlming, vinyl66

I'm a huge fan of the old model from SE and his style (especially earlier stuff) Josh the Bon vivant is his Instagram I think.
Everyone dresses like train conductors anymore, so I like staple pieces and fun shirts (Sun Surf, Star of Hollywood stuff). I admire rockabilly style, but cannot pull it off. Occasionally I will search tags on Instagram but don't really follow anyone, just the same over and over and over to me.
I wear steel toes for work and refuse to wear boots casually, so that further limits my Instagram enjoyment lol.

Perfect fit on the jeans, no super tapered girly stuff going on.

Found this gem and thought it was funny. From a Self Edge look book. I believe that is Bobby Lee.

Occasionally I will search tags on Instagram but don't really follow anyone, just the same over and over and over to me. that's what I do. I closed my IG account a year ago because I got fatigued. Everyone seems to repeat the same look, like holding work boots in their hand, pulling up their selvedge jeans to show their Chup socks or whatever. That and the blatant commercialism started to bug me. I'll now just peruse IG and search tags to see what people are wearing, or to see what new stuff is out there. But I mostly search IH stuff lol. There are a few good IG users out there that have decent original content but it's becoming increasingly difficult weeding out the good from the bad. I get that there are IG users who are passionate about the brands that they wear but when there are hundreds or thousands of other users doing the exact same thing it becomes repetitive. Fwiw, I do like disheveled's IG posts because he switches things up and tries a shit ton of brands.

I need a new forum. I can't do the IH circle jerk anymore and this place is about dead and SuFu is slow anymore. I don't care to see skinny N&F or Unbranded on Reddit. I guess people need to "get off my lawn" hahaha.
You hit the nail on the head. Don't care what brands they are. Don't care to see skinny jeans or carrot jeans with fancy boots. Hashtags everywhere.
While I'm at it, does everyone LIKE wearing brand new clothes?? I've always hated that. "Oh you got new boots/shoes/jeans?" A new shirt isn't bad at all, it's not as noticeable. I can't stand brand new jeans or shoes etc.

I honestly don't see the difference between IH and other popular brands like 3sixteen, RgT, N&F, Flat Head, PBJ, etc., when it comes to who buys their stuff. Each brand will have its fans, so i'm not gonna sh*t on someone's choice of clothing because it's popular. To each their own. As to your last question, I like wearing new shirts or jackets because it's not as noticeable but new jeans and shoes are harder. It's for that reason that I haven't purchased new denim in awhile -- i'm still trying to wear the crap out of the ones I have. I still wear my N&F LHT's and those faded and beat to hell. I've also put in quite a bit of wear on my Leon Denim jeans and those too have some nice honeycombs and wear and tear. Still haven't washed them either but there's still lots of life in them.

I'm not taking a dump on IH, sorry if it comes across like that. I simply need variety is all. They aren't the be all end all for me what so ever. What sucks is that's the most active forum it seems. You can't critique people there either without serious backlash. It's a circle jerk of yes men and that's not a problem at all if you're into the brand heavily. But if I post a fit that's whack, I would like to be told so. You could always sell some of your older stuff. That's kind of a rush for me, selling stuff I don't wear or haven't worn and buying something new. I don't feel bad about it then lol.

That's kind of a rush for me, selling stuff I don't wear or haven't worn and buying something new. I don't feel bad about it then lol. I think we all like variety but at the end of the day it's about fit and stylistic details that gets us to buy one brand over another. I've tried other brands and just can't seem to find others that have all the bells and whistles that IH does. I want to try PBJ denim but their cuts are weird. I've tried 3sixteen's flannel shirts but this forum has made me hate that damn crosscut yoke lol (but I like their jeans). Freenote has weird sizing. N&F is basically Gustin Jeans except they're Canadian and gimmicky. I could go on and on. I don't like everything that IH puts out, but I think that most of the people on the IH forum tend to be honest about what they like or dislike. And it's done in a way that doesn't come off as confrontational like saying, "hey, this shirt sucks or why are you even selling this hat?" I like that Giles is active on the forum and puts himself out there, which can't be said of other denim brand owners. I could sell my other stuff but I simply can't be bothered. I sold my RgT waxed supply jacket not too long ago and that was a pain in the ass. I'm a lazy bastard when it comes to taking pics and measurements.

I’m relatively new to the IG scene, so I haven’t grown tired of it yet. That said, many feeds are kinda repetitive. I’m not really into brands either, but more interested in how pieces are being worn. For example, my recent acquisition of a 1.5” belt was largely due to IG influences. A wider belt just looked better in a bunch of pictures. I don’t know. It’s probably not something I’ll still be doing in 5 years, but for now it’s fine. Disheveled’s feed is good. I like vinyl 66 too. It’s interesting that there seems to be a RW IG camp, and a Truman/viberg IG boot camp. Bothrops1 is a local feed that I like pretty well. The clothes are pretty good, though not really my aesthetic, but he also goes to a lot of local restaurants and I like to keep on top of that scene too. Another local guy, corymahlke is super creative. I think gaseousclay told me about him.

"It's almost vintage style" has a great blog, and posts a lot on Instagram. That's more of the rockabilly look he shows in most photos. I appreciate fine hand crafted boots, but wearing boots anywhere from 14-50 hours any given week burns me out of them. Ive tried a ton of heritage and actual work boots but nothing beats a Thorogood for comfort. I've been wearing Sperry originals for about 12 years now casually, think I'm going to get a pair of Quoddy this spring. No idea if boat shoes are "in" or not though.

This guys combos and photos are top notch. I like instagram and IH's waywt thread for inspiration on outfits/combos. People's feeds def have individual 'themes', but hopefully there is growth in their styles over time even if the genre doesn't change. Division Road's 'new release inspiration' posts are great examples of a mature, non costumy 'fits that look good and are accessible to the average style Joe. Also like Jeff Depano and Denim & Whisky's feed.

I'll also add that quality pics can make or break an IG post. My cell camera is horrible, which is one of the other reasons I gave up on IG.

I never wear my Alden Indy's but do beat the crap out of my Field N Forest moc toe boots from Mills Fleet Farm. They're basically rebranded Thorogoods and cost a fraction of what Indys cost. I only bought them cuz they're comfortable, can take a beating and are easily available in wide widths.

Comfortably soft and broken in the day you put them on, their sole is still going strong on my beat on pair too. They go on sale at Amazon on occasion. I'm tempted to buy a pair of legitimate leather moccasins as well. Got a pair of LL Bean shearing ones this Christmas and they are amazing. I do like the looks of the Red Wing 8845 from SOP, not sure how much I would wear it though.

My guess is that Mills Fleet Farm had Thorogood make boots for their Field N Forest brand. Likewise, Duluth Trading Company has some US made moc toe boots that are likely made by Thorogood. The Field N Forest boots are my favorite knockaround boots and I wear them hard.

yinzer that is indeed Bobby Lee from a SE photo shoot a few years back as you stated. It was right around the time IH dropped the 107 which I believe was about 3 1/2 years ago. Dean Delray was also in that photo shoot. He's been known to rock some Iron Heart.

Dean lost weight, looks so much different now. I believe that was a result of his motorcycle accident. The man is lucky to be alive.
