At first it was $81 american made selvage denim. Now it's premium mens wear. Ok but what does that mean?
I always felt Gustin was solid work wear and classic menswear vibes. Heavy denim, classic looks, great fitting shirts, heavyweight belts. Now I feel the direction is man totes, altered CPOs with random pockets, light weight scarves, and some funky blazer with stitching everywhere and made from canvas.
Has Gustin lost touch with the original customer? Moving to a higher strata?
PS: I would love a blazer but like a real blazer I could wear to a function.

Totally agree Brent, I think it was Ickes that said sometime ago at the G forum, that they seemed to be turning preppy, and that's becoming more and more clear. That's a big reason I haven't backed anything in a while, and have turned my focus more towards LD. Gustin seems to be catering more to the 20 somethings/younger 30's crowd than to this old geezer

Everybody is bashing the design of the blazer for being too "fashion-forward" on the Gustin community.
Personally, I think they're being far too generous. The blazer looks fashion-forward, say, if it were the year 2004.

They do seem to be leaving a big part of there community behind. But clearly they have a much larger one that like where there going (not me, I'm still lost). Last I checked there where over 100 likes on the Franken Blazer. Over 200 likes on the HotPockets CPO. To me there trying to become JCrew. I like some stuff there (not much) but not my style. We were sucked in with the denim, but they have never told us where there taking this com. Not even a mission statement. That's fine, ill use them for what I want and back the thing I like. But Meh, on the things I don't like.

I've been wearing east coast prep for a decade and man totes and advant garde non classic blazers don't fit. This is queer eye for the straight guy not prep at all.

Check out the Engineered Garments Bedford Jacket. Looks like Gustin stole more than just the CPO.

Just looked at the forum there...wow, it sure isn't like it used to be...in a bad way, so glad winter set this place up for us. I like hanging out here, because I met most of you guys over there last year, and feel more comfortable with my friends. The G forum has just gotten out of hand. I wonder if you were right Diggy, when you said they'll probably shut it down.
as far as the styles they're putting out...I wonder if it's an age thing like I said earlier, or a east coast/west coast thing? or maybe a combination of the two. None the less, I still wish them the best, but If I order anything else, I think I'll take your approach Doug
Yeah Brent, I see your point, some of the offerings lately are beyond prep

I guess this response could fit in the other reason this forum exists, but Roman has a denim "blazer"/jacket that he created just messing around - it looks really good. I think if done right, it can be a hot look regardless of coast (but subjective to personal style).

Yea I dont mind using other brands for inspiration but atleast change something. The stitching could have been left off but kept the pocket shapes

But Meh, on the things I don't like. Gustin is behaving like a business.. plain and simple. They provide a portfolio of goods and options and those who see appropriate value will consider buying. Those who see Gustin for what it is are fine with this and not only keep complaints to quality and sizing issues, but may even jump to Gustin's defense when people try to ascribe some greater symbolism to what Gustin is. Most of the frustrated and disillusioned cohort are original supporters of the idea of Gustin. We've been with and supported Gustin from its humble beginnings as a peer and seen them cast off their counter-cultural/rebellious and relate-able persona to become the type of company with the "F"-it attitude the mob railed against in the beginning. As I said in the G feed, they've cleaned the dirt out from under their nails and put on gloves. Perhaps its our fault for making Gustin more than they tried to be.. knowing what their mission is would make it easier for them to behave consistently and easier for us to understand what they're all about.

The way things are going and although I don't have a product in my hand... Lawless is winning my allegiance over and above.

I'll see if I can get a picture for you. I may end up seeing if Roman will do a couple of these as well.

I actually love EG and you can see a quite a few comments from Asian on Gustin's IG.

Had to come here cause I couldn't look at it. I guess it's literally time to scrounge the engineered garments catalog for what's up and coming from Gustin. Hopefully what's hat's going on is pattern purchasing and not outright theft, but seriously, it's hard to get excited about the brand when their new releases are simply less expensive versions of Engineered Garments. It's hard to take the term "Gustin designer" seriously when they're even aping stylized stitch patterns. If they're not buying these patterns, they need to get a high school student in there to teach them how to plagiarize. The sad part is that if that was simply a classic blazer design, without the spider webs all over it, I'd be excited about the damn thing.

Great news for Taylor stitch and lawless, though, if they're watching. Look at what gustin is planning, check out eg to see what it's gonna look like, remove all the ugly, and gustin friends will buy it. At least we can watch Roman figure out his patterns a bit, and see that there's at least some design effort going in. Man, I was really feeling bad for how much I'd been laying into ol' G the past week, now I'm just sad that they're going that route.
