Pretty f!@king price even for MIUSA. That red shirt in allegedly NOS fabric is fantastic but that's a car payment price so hard to tell if it's the manufacturing and supply chain or marketing hype. link

Oh I agree, I just wanted to throw it out there as I think this price is way too far over the line of diminishing returns for me to consider buying. That is some cool fabric though.

i've always wondered how companies arrived at the final cost of an item. That is to say, why do some companies place a higher value on goods over others? I'm guessing it has a lot to do with supply and demand first and foremost. If you're a start up and want to get product on the shelves there's a pretty good likelihood you don't have the capital to produce something in mass quantities, so if you're ordering small numbers your cost will be higher. I also think a lot of companies are relying on the good ole 'made in the USA' tag as something of a lure to bring customers in. If you look at established companies like RgT, 3sixteen, Freenote, Tellason, etc., their pricing for shirts and jeans seem to be fairly consistent across brands, but, they are likely ordering in larger quantities to drive costs down. Proximity is definitely in a tough market for sure

I think I read these shirts are made by Masterson, a shirtmaker that seems to put a lot of fancy stitching and other details on the shirts he makes and they go for $250+. On the Proximity website, they go on at some length about fabric weaving, sewing machines and all that. If you value that (and perhaps you do if you own any IH stuff), these shirts might also be worthwhile.
EDIT: I would think they would have more product pix on the website though. The clothes nerds who are interested in these shirts (and are willing to lay out $279) are gonna want to see fabric close ups, chain stitch run offs and all that other crap.

When you can get a custom MiUSA shirt by Ratio for way less, why?
