Another take on the "trends you don't understand", things you currently don't do.
Shoes with bits (the metal things on loafers) Penny loafers Tennis Shoes (I allow myself 1 pair of Merrell barefoots) white tube socks white t shirts that show under shirts watches (have not worn one regularly since high school) jewelry (keep thinking about a bracelet, never buy one) sweats outside the house (I did buy a pair of seersucker drawstring pants this year, weird wearing them outside for 1st time) shorts below my knees shorts too high above my knees hooded sweatshirts shabby shoes (keep them all clean these days.......patina is for work boots) hats (dont like them in the winter, wear baseball hats to ballgame and sometimes in summer during non work hours) tshirts with printing on them logos on anything
.........I'm sure I'll think of more and add to it later.

I don't have many flat-out " No!" things that I can think of, outside of obvious terrible choices (Think "Goth kid"), or things that are obviously outside of my age or gender group (Think "green skinny jeans", or "dresses").
Anything else is fair game (If properly executed), in this thing we call fashion, for me at least.
*I do agree on the "white t-shirts that show", but I 1-up you, and expand to ANY visible undershirts. For me, it doesn't look "bad", it just looks dated.

I love penny loafers.
My personal no are short sleeve button downs or short sleeve dress shirts. If it's hot outside, I'll roll up my sleeves.

I generally agree... BUT, I have 2 IH short sleeve workshirts, and people always have the reaction of "What's the special occasion??? You look fancy today!" when I wear them, even though I wear button-ups EVERY DAY.
Something about those shirts, people find striking. Not saying it goes for all, tho

Just couldn't do it myself..if it was up to me. Fiancée bought me a couple short sleeve button down Hawaiian shirts while she was in Hawaii with her family. They aren't ugly, just not my style. I've neglected wearing either one up until now, so I think I'll wear it this week when I pick her up from the airport just to be able to say I've worn them, and worn them in front of her. today I'm doing both rolled up sleeves and suede penny loafers. Shoulda gone with a different colored shirt, look too much like a restaurant manager.

Yeah, I don't feel "sharp" when I wear them... Which is why I rarely wear them. But, I do feel like the perception of them is better than that of my western shirts, so I wear the short sleeves with confidence, in spite of me not particularly liking them.

I'm very much a long sleeve shirt guy, and will just roll um up if needed, but I do have a couple of Hawaiian print SS shirts that I scored at a local thrift store for next to nothing, that appeared to be new without tags, and fit perfectly. I don't wear them much, but they do work well for sipping a glass of whiskey on the patio on a hot evening.

Jeans with a 1" belt. More of a Jean Claude van Dam running around with a windbreaker in an 80's movie, but I still see it occasionally.

Got to add wife beater undershirts. I can't fathom any reason they exist.

Got to add wife beater undershirts. I can't fathom any reason they exist. Ok here is one, wanting to wear an undershirt with a "high armhole" button down. On the ss shirt button downs, I waffle on this. I have several TS ss button downs and I like them a lot. But my caveat is to only wear them with shorts.

I'm VERY much a sleeve-roller... To the point that I have 20-30 long sleeve button ups, and I rarely wear the sleeves down. TYPICALLY, the only time the sleeves are down, is because I would happen to have on a jacket. Once the jacket comes off, the sleeves get unbuttoned, and flipped once.

My personal no are short sleeve button downs or short sleeve dress shirts. If it's hot outside, I'll roll up my sleeves. lol. you guys are masochists. I wear short sleeve button downs a lot in the summer. I do also have a bunch of lightweight casual long sleeve shirts from J.Crew that I might wear if the temps permit it but if it's scorching hot outside no way. I sweat way too much. If I wore long sleeved shorts rolled up during the summer I imagine i'd look like Rick from The Walking Dead since he always looks like he's in a perpetual state of greaziness.

his zombie fades are some of the best. I don't get the hate for SS button downs. I have quite a few in solid, patterned, denim, chambray, linen. My caveat to this is that i never, ever, tuck them in. These are definitely on the casual spectrum of the wardrobe. In the summer it's usually with shorts. If it's with chinos i keep it casual with a sneaker or slip on. there is a guy that works a couple doors down from me and he rocks the white SS OCBD with at tie every day. I won't knock on his casual business hustle. but i also won't copy it either
