I need this mystery solved. For months now I have had shirts randomly develop a single hole near the front lower center of the shirt. At first I thought I had carpet beetles or something like that, but I highly doubt they are eating holes in the shirts.
At first I thought it was my Ciano jeans. They had a rough top button. I've since stopped wearing those and still have issues. The latest victim was one of my TS merino wool t-shirts. I've only had this thing or about a month and a half.
It really only occurs on my thin shirts like G etc.
Google search says friction between countertops and my pants, but I don't notice leaning on things that often.
Any ideas?

How about your seatbelt? Do you log a lot of windshield time?

Could be my seat belt. I'm usually only in the car about half an hour each day though. I have short arms, so I find myself standing closer to counters than most people. I don't know. Am I the only one here this happens to?

I blow out the elbows in dress shirts with amazing regularity. I've been told it's because the sleeves are too short but have had issues with just about every sleeve length.

I'd take a look at your belt buckle, especially the roller buckles, as the tang sits on top of the roller, and is not recessed in any way. Easy to tell, in that the shole in the shirt will line up to where it sits in relationship to the buckle tang.

I have a strange issue of holes in some of my Gustin shirts, but a different location than you...
3 of my G-shirts have a hole under the left arm (3 heavy chambray variants), about 2 inches down from the armpit seam..... It's not a hole in the fabric, but where the fabric is folded over and sewn together, that stitching is coming apart in roughly the same place on a few shirts. And, it's ONLY my Gustin shirts. Leads me to believe that it's not a jacket or seatbelt issue. Doesn't bother me so much though... When they fall apart, I'll get them fixed, or use the fabric for my Frankenstein projects
