I have 5 pairs of canvas chinos, all about size 38-40 waist. I have lost a lot of weight (about 35 lbs) and my waist is now size 35-36. Do you guys think a regular dry cleaner tailor would be able to take the waist in and taper my 5 pairs of canvas chinos? I have 1 from Samurai, 2 from left field, and 2 from Ciano.
Don't even get me started on the jeans that don;t really fit anymore...

Might be OK to have a so-so tailor take in 2 inches, but for taking in 5 inches, I'd want to have someone who really knew what they were doing (especially with a heavier canvas). You could always start with the "easiest" alteration with the cheaper tailor and see how it goes. I have a tailor that I've used a bunch of times and he's great. I feel like he charges a bit more and will usually take a week or two to turn it around, but I've never been disappointed with the work he's done. With the amount of money you spent on the chinos (especially the Samurai and LF NYC) it's probably worth finding a quality tailor. You might be surprised at how cost competitive he is. My guess is he won't be too much more than the dry cleaner. Good luck.

First, congrats on the weight loss. Second, that's a pretty big adjustment. The easy answer is that anything under an inch is a pretty easy change. More generally gets tricky due to needing to retaper the leg, consider pocket placement, etc. It can't hurt to ask, if you have an experienced tailor, they should give you an honest answer up front. Start with your least favorite pair.

Won't Ciano do them for "free?" Yea...I'm really not a huge fan of the CF chino fit to be honest. I'm more interested in altering the LF and Samurais.

Does CF still exist, or is it just a website that deducts money from your credit card?

I haven't heard of any forum members ordering or receiving anything from him in the past few months. I still wear my CF chinos. I like em.

The funny thing is that if you look on e-bay, he used to (or still does) sell a line called "c-star". It's quite funny really and doesn't seem so great.
