Since I first started my binge. I never really checked out any of the inseams on all of my raw selvedge... I just took the sales persons word. After my experience with Brooklyn Denim Co (when I purchased my Raleigh's) I learned not to listen to what any sales person says. So now I carry a tape measure when I go out and purchase any Selvedge Raws.
Now I can measure the inseam properly myself at the store., yes I know I can ask the store to measure them for me, but will they honestly tell me that the inseam is shorter than what it's supposed to be? I doubt it. They just want the sale.

measuring is definitely an objective way to gather data, but if you're talking about in store visits...why not try them on which should give you the best understanding of how the specific pairs will fit on your build

Ageeed. My hemmed jeans all have different inseams anyway. Both because of different fits and because everything shrinks a little in inseam with washes.

What went wrong w/ the Raleigh was when I first purchased them. I got them a size down and the length was long and seemed to be a 35, but I had to exchange them for a 36. I should of checked the inseam.

Yeah, I abused my first pair of Gustins, which I got in a straight fit, with hot washes and dries to try to slim them down. Knocked nearly two inches out of the inseam.
Beware that a few Japanese brands unsanforized denims can end up under 33" after a hit soak.
