I've got a pair of the Black Cherries They run big so size down. For me they were a bear to break in. Took a good 3 months of wear. I wouldn't say they make the most comfortable boot (nothing beats a pair of Doc's for comfort) but they are very versatile. They dress up nicely. How will you be using them? Thx, they'll be my everyday boots (work, night out with the wife) mostly denim hoodies or sweaters.

How about a pair of Alden's? Not bad, just not the look that I like.

I've gone from mixing concrete to church to out on the town with my wife all on the same day wearing these. Get a good brush and your good to go.

I have RW Beckmann and love them. From October till April, they're basically the only shoe I wear. They took a little while to break in, (for me maybe 1-2 weeks of daily wear) and it's a little painful, but worth it. Very versatile boots as others have said. I wear a 13 in most other shoes and I wear a 13 in Beckman too.

Redwings tend to run a full size under Brannock. I wear a 9.5 Brannock and an 8.5 in RW.

I have a dirty brush for my work boots (Doc's, iron Rangers). Those I brush maybe monthly. The nicer ones I brush most times before I go out. The dust/dirt dry out the oils in the boot, so it's best to remove it. I keep the brushes in the same area as the boots. Only takes 10 seconds to do.

I regard my boots as an investment, and in turn will require care and looking after to get the best long term results. This time of year, my forays into the woods will usually leave my boots with dirt, and mud which I wipe, or brush off when I return home. Your footwear will thank you for it with improved longevity.

I'd like to get some opinions from anyone that has a high recommendation of a good wedge sole boot. I've got Danners for hunting, and outdoor use, White's for motorcycle, and a pair of semi-dress for styling in, and La Sportiva for backpacking and climbing. All of these except for the semi dress have a heavy lug vibram, which is great for its intended use, but I find that as I'm now in my 60s, and still walking out and about at least 5 miles on most days, I can get some foot fatigue at the end of the day.
I'm wondering if picking up a pair of Red Wings, Danner bull run, or Throgood with a wedge sole will fit the bill, or go the usual route and order a pair of handmade. Nicks wait time is currently around 4-5 months if I'm correct, and really don't want to wait, if something else will suffice.
How much wear are you getting out of a wedge sole, before having to replace?

How much wear are you getting out of a wedge sole, before having to replace? Go Thorogood. Anything made in the US line. I actually wear mine for work (steel toes) and they all are buttery soft and comfortable the day that you put them on. Nothing beats them for comfort, and I have bought boots from many, many brands going through about 1-2 pairs a year. Also, their wedge sole seems to last longer than other brands.
