So it would seem Fit trumps designer, denim, cost. Indeed.

i don't think i've found that pair yet. i really like my oni secrets...probably my current favorite pair, but i wouldn't buy another immediately because a.) this pair has at least another year in them and, b.) there are way too many other brands/denims/cuts to try out. i also really liked my 3sixteen kibata 120s, the denim is great...but after spending the summer on my bike they just no longer fit through the thighs, knees, and calves. threw them up on grailed...will replace them with another IndigoxBlack of IndigoxIndigo if they sell

There's going to likely come a day when my IH-634SB give out, but as much as I love them I'm not likely going to replace them due to the $350 price tag. My 501 STF's on the other hand, are honestly some of my most versatile jeans and have faded nicely with a little patience. For $40, I can pickup a brand new pair from 5 miles up the road. I'll probably be an old man rotating through a single pair of Levi's at a time.

So it would seem Fit trumps designer, denim, cost. Fo shizzle due to this election, I had to read that about four times, then read it again twice after ickes replied before I understood what the hell you were talking about. heh.

exophobe I had to read it a few times myself. I've actually got to add one more to my list, the IH flagship denim. the 21oz natural/beige weft denim. I will be buying that again but probably in the 777 cut next time.

The more time rolls by, the more I realize that I'm just not really a jeans guy..... Lol! The irony. I mean, I just don't have many pairs, and I don't really wear any of them a considerable amount. I have LOADS of IH gear and pants, but most are not jeans.
I have a couple of pairs that I really like how they fit, but they all fit with certain "looks" per se. Like, my 555-03 fit great, but they look best with a t-shirt, not my button-up shirts. My XX-013 fit nice, but only with certain button-ups. I have yet to find my perfect fit for a pair of "everyday jeans". I'm hoping the 1955's do it for me

I'm hoping the 1955's do it for me I've been rolling in a lot of chinos lately for work and such, but I usually go through these phases. Once I stop being lazy and get some of these jeans hemmed, though, they may roll back in. I really like a traditional five pocket made with traditionally "chino fabrics", which is becoming more common but still relatively rare. I'm in jeans all weekend, though, and I have a couple pairs of jeans that get occasional wear in the office these days, especially those japan Italian midnight with the grey weft, those are one of my best fitting pairs ever received from gustin. It's very much about finding the appropriate match for a good look. It seems that heavier higher quality fabrics are more difficult to pair up and get looking right for an office (I'm looking at super heavy flannels, here). If you don't match them up you end up looking like you can't dress yourself while wearing expensive clothes. Jeans also just don't work with relatively dressy shoes.

Japan Standard - while it has gone up $24 since I backed it almost 3 years ago, the fades are really coming in nicely and I find these as my go-to pair just on account of fit and look. American Sixteener - classic option from G and with the fade potential I'm seeing and unique cast to these, I think they may get a second run once I wear these out.

I'd probably buy another pair of Leon denim because I love the fit of mine. But, they're stubborn faders.
Still haven't worn my Japan 17's, Blue 17's, Cone Superlights or my 2 pairs of 3sixteen. Those are basically sitting on ice because of my Sith Lord approach to denim: there can be only 2

So it would seem Fit trumps designer, denim, cost. I agree. My best fitting pair are my Unbranded weird guys, not the most exciting denim but I would not touch a thing to the fit. On the other hand, I have some cooler brands like Strike Gold or PBJ with very exciting denim fabrics that I seldomly wear due to weird fits, both are slim fits which came out looking like jeggings after the initial wash. The older I get the more I dislike slim fits, not a flattering look when you are going into your 40s to be looking like a sausage wearing your slim pants.

I've bought 2 pairs of PBJ XX-013's... And, I would buy a third. They're not spectacular. Buy they are a really good standard/neutral pair of jeans for me

Now that I'm back in Europe, I find myself ONLY wearing my slim cuts when I go out. My IH pants (Except my 555-03, and 716) don't really get worn except for work now. Fine by me, as well. I'm TRYING to not buy another pair of 555's, though I really want to. I've been slimming down lately, and I'm loving them more and more.

I have a pair of Strike Gold 1109's that I seldom wear because the fit is so damned weird. the thighs and knees are borderline skinny but the hem is about 8". They just look weird unless i'm wearing them with a pair of Chucks and a flannel top.

It's interesting to me that you're slimming down after moving from Japan to the UK. I would think English food (as compared to a Japanese diet) would pack on the pounds. Or maybe its just inedible?

The Brits don't eat their own food. I think they expanded their empire largely in search of edible food. I eat nothing but Indian, Turkish and Pakistani food when I'm there.

Yeah, I go heavy on the chicken tikka too. I was mostly thinking about the fish and chips, which is consumed on a near daily basis when in the Isles (for me at least). I went to Ireland this summer. Great trip, but unless you are in a bigger city (Dublin, Cork, Galway...) there is almost no variation in restaurant menus.

Yeah, rural Ireland is food challenged in a way that rural Scotland and Wales have down pat. I love it, but it's easier to stock up on food in the big cities for trips to the back country.
