Is there any chance some of you guys have some hands on experience with HELM boots? They're made and sold here in Austin, and I've just been to shy to drop in as a window shopper. I'd like to get a pair of boots, but I honestly mean one single pair of boots as my go-to pair, not multiple styles and colors. Our house and closet is small enough that I've got to keep my shoe collection under control, and boots take up more space than the average shoe, so I'm going to limit myself to one pair for now.
My only boots currently are a pair of Danner Mountain Light II, which are reserved for hiking and are AMAZING on/off trail, good for a full day of comfort and then some. I like them so much that I've considered getting a pair of casual Danners for day to day wear, but the fact that HELM is a local company that seems to be well reviewed has me second guessing this (plus I'm unaware of local shops where I can view and try on Danner's casual offerings).
HELM's offerings look mighty attractive, and I don't exactly aspire for "bargain" sub-$250 boots that are supposed to last for years and be of ultimate comfort & quality. Once I'm actually able to throw down on a pair, I look forward to swinging by to try some on. Til then, I'd love to get some testimonies from other forum members.
