Recently purchased the Strike Gold loopwheel indigo dyed sweatshirt, and all I can say is that thing is nice. Unfortunately I'm a little big for the XL and had to sell it off, but it alone convinced me to look into getting a pair of their jeans - so, with that being said, is Rakuten the best place to look for a pair, or should I head straight to Self Edge? Klax-onStar-foot

Just be mindful of measurement differences in regards to different runs of a cut. Some people have gotten very slim thighs etc in comparison to the Self Edge measurements. For example, my 5109 thigh measurement is a decent amount smaller than that given at Self Edge. I recommend also trying to get a non wash version, to better enjoy the denim.

Klax-onStar-footI'd go this route as well. SE will charge extra since they're the only US distributor of SG's stuff, so it'll easily run $100 more. I lucked out and got mine via Fleabay. they had already been soaked but were still new. the measurements were right for me, so that made it easier for me to buy. i'd definitely buy their jeans again.

yinzer - which ones are those? Beautiful color! Thanks jay. They are the 5109. I have some other photos in the thread a page or so back. Another cold wash and some better lighting really helped show their true color. These things are very very comfortable.

cross post from the SelfEdge thread....but these new SelfEdgexStrike Gold collab jeans look fantastic: www.selfedge.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1595It is almost worth the price tag for me to cop these because I have always been iffy over the back pocket stitching on SG's and these are an Indigo thread so it kind of eliminates that.....and this pair uses a cotton/poly stitch as opposed to an all cotton thread. Those two reasons plus the fact that the fabric looks great are almost justifying the price tag for me....

I mean if the denim looks that good online, it must insane in person. However, just my opinion, the price is really almost laughable...yeah i get the limited edition, collaboration thing...and i own some high end stuff from SENY, but I think this one is a bit out of whack....at $275 they are a must buy....at current msrp.....thats only for you and your bank account to decide

The arcs don't bother me. It's like the arcs on Ande Whall's jeans, you either love 'em or hate 'em.

Arcs are an easy fix with a $2 seam-ripper if you don't like them. Don't buy the hype, the retail price of these pants plus the fact they have SE written all over the patch make it an easy pass for me...
(Lots of strike golds to be fount in Rakuten at 180/$200 a pop...)

(Lots of strike golds to be fount in Rakuten at 180/$200 a pop...) good point regarding the seam ripper, I always forget about that simple tool. I'm not really buying any hype but it's obvious that is a nice looking fabric. Different than any other Strike Gold fabric I have seen. Also, the fact that they come with cotton/poly stitching carries a lot of weight for me. I've read several reviews of SG jeans coming undone very early in their life because of the all cotton stitching. Still, I'm not saying I'm buying them because I agree.....that price tag is awful hefty. But either way, a damn good looking pair of jeans.

Polycotton is a nice upgrade and the cut looks good too. But I don't feel compelled to pay the substantial premium over SG's regular offerings for that alone.

I agree with you guy's about this new Self Edge/Strike Gold colab . The fabric looks like something very unique . I Also like that they did the dark colored thread on the back pockets and used poly-core thread to sew these up with. But other than that is only the fabric and fancy leather patch. So I'm trying to figure out the upscale pricing on these ? The Self Edge store closest to me is a about a Four hour drive to Portland. I really want to see them in person to see if they are really worth $345 in comparison to the other denim they sell.

Welcome to six posts ago jeffr0. They do look really cool, but I think I'd rather have a pair and a half of regular TSG's.

Sorry, bentin for being late to the game Sarcasm is hard to grasp on a webpage sometimes? But you do have a point, The maker of this brand of jeans Mr. Tohru Hamamoto own website. Klax-On/TheStrikeGold the same basic jeans are about $207.00 USD.

This fabric is like the 5109's, but turned up to 11... Like the fact they have poly cotton stitching. Will need to shrink a bit more but I think these will be good ones.

This is the wavy standard, in the '09 fit. It's their collaboration pair with Self Edge. Going to hot soak them again, but their comfortable that's for sure.

Looking really good. Making me reconsider the latest Self Edge collab. If you decide to get that model, pay attention to the waist etc at raw measurements. I got a 36 in fear of shrink. The waist went to 34 after two hot soaks, and went back to pre-soak in a matter of a few wears (thighs too). Had to sell them as they were way too big. A 34 waist is even a bit big on me. Unsanforized loose weave fabrics stretch a good bit even without much pressure I've noticed. Thighs were 12.5 before soak, got them down to around 12, and stretched right back to 12.5. A 12 thigh isn't even tight on me either.
