Nice jacket for sure...but I understand your fondness of that vest. It's a great one!

Nice jacket for sure...but I understand your fondness of that vest. It's a great one! This beach cloth vest gets more wear than any other piece in my wardrobe. It's my go to piece to dress up tshirts, and to pull a shirt and jacket together. Best $120 I've spent on clothing

@untucked - is there hidden cord in a zig zag pattern reinforcing the buttons (and button-holes)? The picture doesn't indicate a detail there, but the zig zag seems to be pretty prominent.

Purposely done by me. When I did the initial soak and wear until dry, the buttons were pulling the leather in a very strange, funky way when I would sit down. I guided those creases you see, to help it make sense. Like how some denim wearers guide the pattern for their stacks

When I make stuff I like to put hidden things in like that when I can and when it makes sense to me, so I was wondering if this was the case of someone else doing that. What you've done seems to keep it from looking like it's too small for you (which weird button pulling tends to do), so it seems like it was a good idea.

It actually fits really well. Leather + hot water = definite shrinkage. That's where the pulling came from, because before I soaked it, it was surely too baggy. (And it only "pulls" while sitting)
I'll post a buttoned-up pic... one day.

Were you able to grab a pair of the Trooper Boots?

I have the money, but I haven't grabbed them. I have a pair of Role Club's almost ready that I have to pay off soon.... So, that paired with moving to England has me dragging my feet on it... I've considered just pulling the trigger, but I want to have my Role Club's in hand first so I can see if they're different enough to warrant having both.

This may be the first and only...
Luckily for me all of the items I've been buying for the last few months have been from the skipper and sportsman collections which aren't on sale.

@untucked
I picked up a Loco jacket and a Blousen de Quart.
The loco jacket is seriously awesome... I didn't walk into the store with the loco jacket on my list but once I put it on I knew it was leaving with me! It feels like a cross between a chore coat, a locomotive engineer jacket and a western denim jacket. It doesn't look costume-y when paired with normal clothes. The fit is great and you can't beat the sugar cane denim for texture.
Same deal withe blousen. The fit was too good to pass on. Being in LA and now owning both the caban peacoat and the blousen, I think have cold weather overkill covered!

I've been eyeing the Blousen de Quart, but I'm stopping myself... I've got some things coming soon from Indigogene. Outerwear is definitely something I don't need more of as of now

What's your thoughts on the El Americano in covert grey? The fabric sounds really interesting. Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I ordered a pair of vaquero jeans.

@61scout
I tried the El Americano in that fabric on actually... I loved everything about it but the sleeves were too long for me, otherwise...
The fabric is pretty amazing and I think it's a great example of why MFSC is worth a premium. It feels beefy but breathable and has a subtle cool crinkly / crease-y look that linen blend brings. The pattern does give it a bit of a old-time prairie/western vibe even when worn with modern pants/boots etc but is doesn't feel costume-y. Kinda like Browns Beach fabrics. It feels classic.
I tried on the same jacket in the brown duck as well but the covert felt more substantial.
Hope this helps!

Speaking of the Garrison shirt... Quick pic of elbow and arm fades on the Garrison in midnight double indigo twill. How did I forget about the olive version?

That looks like a sweet shirt. I agree. No temptation as they don't have an XXL. I do admire a lot of MF offerings, but his pricing is not for the faint of heart. At least with this sale, one could consider.

modslifeThanks! That jives with their description. I don't see a lot of heavy linen. It's tempting. The last time I looked stock was dwindling.

Woke up at 3am to go take a leak, then lo and behold..........
An email from Cristian saying my name is up on the list for a pair of Trooper Boots, in brown. Honestly, I had no idea they were still producing the brown ones! Well, even though I have the Role Club's on the way, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least get them home and try them on. If they happen to not fit, they will be up for sale here and on the IH forum; size 9D
