Let's talk about pizza, damnit. What's yer favorite frozen pizza? I'm a sucker for Bellatoria pan pizza because the crust comes out perfect everytime. For local pizza joints it would have to be Mesa Pizza because they have the most amazing variety i've ever seen. Gonna have to try their pad thai pizza sometime. Fuuuuug.

I tend to make my own pizza at home. We have a bread machine that has a pizza dough setting. Dump in ingredients, hit start and dough is ready in 45 minutes...the same amount of time it takes to heat up the pizza stone in the oven. If I do get frozen pizza, I think Connie's is my (and my kids'!) favorite. I think it's a Chicago company (but its not Chicago style pizza), and it doesn't seem to be very widely distributed. I get it at my co-op here. For local joints, Black Sheep Pizza and Big River Pizza are my favorite. Pizza Luce and Punch are good too.

They typically sell pizza by the slice....the only downside is that they don't always have the pizza you want from their menu. Luce is ok -- I like their Blue Dog pizza.

I've been meaning to try Mesa, just don't get to Uptown all that often. I think they have a place in Dinkytown too, no? That location would be pretty close to me actually. Pizza Luce has the benefit of not being Pizza Hut or Dominos but will still deliver to my house. I like the Blue Dog and The Boss.

I think my favorite pizza I have eaten was in the Tuscany region at a place called "the steakhouse"...so being dumb I thought I was supposed to be ordering beef, but all the locals told me they are more known for pizzas. In the same regard, the cheap 2 euro pizzas were better than the gourmet type pizzas here in the bay area to me.
My usual go to in my area is Premiere pizza or Littlestar/Blueline. My uncle used to co-own a pizza spot in the Italian area of SF. He made square thin crust pizzas and it wasn't bad. I liked all his veggie options more than the meat ones.

Excellent topic. I'm a bit of a pizza snob, growing up in the Philly area. My landlord post-college owned a pizza shop that was directly adjoining the building I lived in. Great, so long as I kept hitting the gym. The owner was straight off the boat Italian and he's hilarious in his love for Rocky Balboa.
When I moved to NC, I was concerned that the pizza choices would be sparse but thankfully a lot of NYers move down there. Great NY style pizza.
Living in the desert has been more of a quest to find legit good east-coast style pizza. Lot of people claim it, but I've only found one legit that tastes like what I'm used to on the east coast. Ray's Famous pizza in Scottsdale. Pretty good for holding me over until I get back east. Haven't tried the Sicilian option yet, but plan to soon (on a weekend when I intend to mountain bike more than my normal).

I like them, if they're real and not just canned. When I worked in Germany, they loved their tuna fish pizzas, never tried one, sounds horrible.

blech. never tried but it doesn't sound appealing to me. any good? If it's done right it's Great. Most simply lay them on top of the pizza. So you get a bite of salty fish. The proper way to put them on a pizza is by putting them In the dough. In small pieces press them into the dough before any toppings (as much or little as you'd like). So now you get a hint of the flavor in a bite. My wife does it all the time. We ask if they like Anchovies, of course they don't from previous experience. They never really notice. They only know that they love my wife's pizza.

My favorite one in the area is this chain called &Pizza. The new trend recently has been Chipotle style, and this one is a Chipotle style pizza joint. Personal pizzas with as many different kinds of sauces, cheese, and toppings as you like for $10. Can't be beat.
