Just wondering where the Community stands on this. I for one don't like the change.

Humans generally don't like change... I think it's doesn't even matter, and in no way fulfills the intent of the action anyway.

Jackson's a bit easy to punt on. Time for some change. I assume Trump will gild our currency and put his image on there soon anyway.

Just wondering where the Community stands on this. I for one don't like the change. Why don't you like it? It's not that I don't like change. Our Currency is based on confidence and faith. When it's tinkered with I feel it loses some of that, pushing away from paper currency and more towards a Digital Currency. As of now, I don't feel many people truly understand how to properly use their funds (especially the poor or uneducated). But they do understand Cash.

The things you said, I think, are not affected by the image on the money though.
I just generally feel that if the American government or "powers that be" REALLY want to commemorate her, build a museum or a monument.
Putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill does nothing to shed light on America's ugly past, and does nothing to pay homage to her

i don't think changing up the imagery (or verbiage) on the bills does much to undermine confidence in the currency or real issues that effect anyone living check to check dependent upon the cash in their pockets. i'm all for honoring someone who had the conviction to risk her life to do something she knew to be right, but i'm with @untucked here. this isn't likely to do much more than generate conversations about her face on the $20 rather than who she was and why it matters. the country needs genuine discussion about race, what it means to us, and how we should evolve our relationships...this is simply a symbolic gesture in an attempt to say 'we've moved forward' but is likely only going to give a boost to the already divisive rhetoric.

I agree with many comments above. It doesn't seem to matter one way or another in terms of currency. We change currency often to add security measures against counterfeiting so I'm not sure why changing the picture would matter. And I agree it's a symbolic gesture but probably better ways to pay tribute to Tubman and the overall struggle towards equality. But maybe creating discussion is a step in the right direction.

Jackson was a horrible human being. A genocidal maniac. This is not up for debate. So anyone is better than him. And that "anyone" being Tubman is excellent in my book. Time for this country to join the rest of the world, even if it is through small baby steps like who's on your currency.

I think it will take care of 0.000001% of the racial divide in the US, so maybe it is a good thing, although quite meaningless from a "helping society get along" standpoint.

This Tubman quote is quite deep and speaks a lot to our human condition: "I freed 1,000 slaves; I could have freed 1,000 more if only they knew they were slaves."

What is this "$20 bill" thing you are referring to? It is also known as the "Yuppie Food Stamp", and can be dispensed from these devices known as "Ay Tee Emms".
