@scooter - got two LW's here. Stu is Stu. Some guys get butthurt over his personality, I don't. Congrats. That looks killer. LW jackets are bullet-proof and take some effort to break - but being here and comfortable with 26oz denims, etc., it should pose no trouble for many men here. Just know he's a straight-shooter. East coast, old school. I like him. From the sound of it, there must be some "sensitive" types trying to do business with him. I'm not one of those. Good to know. Thanks. What might I expect for lead time ? I'm thinking, I'd like to have it by this fall.

Pick your questions wisely and don't be one of these wankers that emails him 10x a day. He'll kill you.

After researching, and much deliberation, I've chosen what shall be my first high quality leather jacket..... Lost Worlds Suburban in Russet I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger. I'd like to pad the rainy day fund, a bit, before I drop over $1K on a jacket. My only concern... the negative pub I've read. It seems, dealing with Stu, at Lost Worlds, isn't always a pleasant experience. Does anyone here have any 1st hand experience ? I will add to Old26 I have 2 Lost Worlds Ryder jackets, black and brown and I love them. Bullet proof. The style is very close to the Suburban. Suburban is a little looser fit if I recall. I need to post the black one as I purchased it this summer and haven't taken any pics yet. I have been wearing it every day since fall. Keep an eye on Ebay and other forums for used ones. I only dealt with their customer service once as my zipper pin is a little loose on my brown jacket. Prompt and short response.

hey y'all - I recently got the Satchel & Page bomber jacket and it's a beaut, but I'm not a fan of the "wind flap" or "storm flap" behind the zipper... I know it's supposed to add functionality, but what do y'all think about having it removed? Do y'all know if that's even possible? I just hate the way it looks unzipped. Here's a ref photo of the "storm flap" i'm talking about - not the actual jacket

That style jacket does not lend itself well to being open, generally speaking - it's meant to be zipped. You could get it removed, depending on how it's built. It's the style/mission of the jacket's basic design as it's in the G-1/M422 range.

If you don't live somewhere that gets frigid and windy, though, do whatever you want.

Sure, but what's the difference as far as his get-up is concerned? He could be wearing a G1 half-zipped and it would still look better without the flap.
Can anyone explain why a G1 should not be worn unzipped? OK i agree it shouldn't be unzipped - but even just a quarter-zip (lol) would be fine, and it'd look better without the flap. anybody else with me?

The flap doesn't detract when unzipped so long as it's on the outside, but I'm sure there was some functional reason for the flaps to be on the inside (maybe reduces noise since it doesn't require any snaps) when they designed it, though it may have simply been to reduce the necessary hardware since metal came at a premium. If you're buying military repro, though, you get the good and bad end of function over form. If you want it pretty, you have to go with the fascist designers (wwii Germany, Italy, etc), but then you look like you belong in a kmfdm video.

Also, the planes these guys were in didn't have insulation, and I don't think they had heaters, so they wouldn't be flying with their jackets unzipped anyway, they needed all the warmth they could get, and if you survive the flight, then you don't give a god damn whether it looks good with unzipped or not while you're finishing up at the airfield.

But, as luck would have it, my other choice for my first horsehide leather became available, at a much greater value. The collab between Iron Heart and Alexander Leathers had been on my radar. But, at similar price points, I favored the LW Suburban, essentially on solid reputation, and the MiUSA tag. For 2/3 the price, I couldn't pass on the Alexander, though. So, instead of the one above, I'll be rockin' the one below.....
