RRL Western Shirt I bought on sale last fall. Size is large, I wear a slim/large Jcrew Ludlow dress shirt for comparison. Bonus Gustin American Sixteeners in the pic..... Weird. Never noticed the vertical grain in the sixteeners (been wearing them for a month) until I looked at your picture and now it's all I see.

It came out after a lot of wear on my pair, they were pretty uniform when I first got them. Maybe if I'd seen a more worn in pair back then I would have noticed the grain earlier. I actually wondered if it was as pronounced on other peoples pairs. I just don't see many fade pics of sixteeners.

I find I'm a lot less worried about it since I realized the contest must have been aborted, since G doesn't even acknowledge it anymore. That was the only reason I ordered them, but now that I have them, I'm glad I got them regardless of contest. but the first rule of american sixteeners club seems to be "do not talk about american sixteeners club".

exophobe, it's funny, they are my second favorite pair of Gustins behind the Okas and you're right, it is fight club with these. They develop beautiful Cone style fades with a lot of wear.

Here's an example of the tiny tiny stitch length and herringbone fabric of the RRL cornflower check workshirt I got from RRL on clearance. Chinese but look at the way the sleeve taper aligns, and the almost invisible stitching. Oh and that line on the cuff? Stitching stays on that line all the way around on both ends of both cuffs.

I agre about the hit and miss. I got a pair of officer chinos that is redicilous good construction and heavy as hell, got a pair of sidepocket pants that is ricepaper and Tore very quickly and then a sweatshirt that is heavy and holds through washes great. All extremely cheap on sale yay.

How's the sizing on the WorkShirts? I have a 42" chest. Seems like a Large would fit me. Whats your experience?

you might be able to go down to a M - they tend to run a bit big.

How's the sizing on the WorkShirts? I have a 42" chest. Seems like a Large would fit me. Whats your experience? I wear a 42 in Taylor Stitch, L in Gustin Classic (xl in slim). The L in RRL gave a little bit more room in the chest than the couple Taylor Stitch shirts I've received, and a good deal more length. In my experience (keep in mind this is a single RRL fit, though I have a couple other Ralph Lauren etc. shirts), it's come in closest to the Gustin Workshirt in a Slim XL. I don't think I'd recommend sizing down, but I have a very small sample size to choose from. I think sticking with your "normal size" is the best bet.

I don't mind it because it appears to be done on purpose, it doesn't just happen to be that way. This makes it a choice on the part of the designer as opposed to a mistake on the part of the manufacturer.

I think having the pattern broken works. It's enough to make you look and ask "does that bother me" ( ickes) But it doesn't. Its kind of a version of having the pockets sewn on diagonal (which makes me ask, Does that bother Me?).

Dirty_Denim - all of the sale items (all of 'em) now have the additional discount applied to them (what you would have paid using the GIFT30 code). Keep your eyes on the Harbor CPO. It's a spring release so not on sale but I grabbed it when I was at the RRL store because it is incredible. I couldn't wait for the season-end sale.

I want to buy one of their shirts but am still unclear on how they fit. I'm thinking I could wear a medium. wished they gave accurate measurements. but then again, I just splurged on the PBJ deep indigo jacket so i'm set

yes, that.
can't wait to get it in the rotation. it was in the front of the store and was the first thing i grabbed. it's almost corduroy in nature (maybe like a micro cord) and the thing is just going to evo so nicely. such an inky indigo.

Bah, their site is all screwy. Tried ordering some shirts on my cell and even though i applied the freeship code for free shipping (where it was applied at the beginning of checkout) it still added postage after i entered my shipping info.

Maybe I'll just wait and see if the prices drop any further. The shirts I'm looking at are impulse purchases.
