C&J roughout Islays (the James Bond boot) were my first better quality buy. They're really comfy to wear, with the speedhook transition in just the right place. Having said that, I hardly ever wear them because they're brown and I prefer the chunkier Tricker Stow style.
The C&Js Islay is definitely a more refined and classy look though and one that would also look great in an office.

I don't know when this happened, because I thought they looked hideous some time before, but I now find myself pining for a pair in scotch grain. But that's an odd statement, that you hardly wear them because they are brown. It's like the most versatile color out there.

devastitis, I just don't have many earth colours in my wardrobe, and wore my amber harness and hawthorn RWs more. I've sold the ambers now, so the C&Js had their first wearing in over two years recently. I'd forgotten how good they felt.

Pretty much any color except black, but that's debatable with some as well. I can't decide if I want my next pair to be C&Js/Carminas/Aldens.

Then I could stop buying, probably..not.

I can give or take C&J. I have an unworn pair of suede C&J's made for Barney's but my feet are too bulbous and thus, they've been sitting quietly in their fortress of solitude, aka the closet

In the UK, they're about $700 and you never get a discount, so resale values must be pretty good.

I scored a pair of BNIB Tricker's Burford in espresso scotch grain off of eBay super cheap. When I first got them, I didn't really like them much. However, after some wear in, they are by far my favorite pair of boots, and I always get compliments or questions about them when I wear them.

I've wondered how they look once they start breaking in.

BTW, re: sexy scotch grain after wear in, I'm still hoping they reissue the Brooklyn Circus X Tricker's scotch grain Stow: But started life like this:

stinky - I kinda like those and I have no idea why. Maybe it's just black scotch grain that I can't stand.

Did you purposefully darken some parts of the upper with polish while keeping other parts lighter?

Another r/GYWer's pair from the same C&J GMTO. Not a huge fan of dark brown or leather soles, but damn they are nice.

devastitis -- I just realized that my post was a bit misleading. Those are *not* my boots. Those are boots for which I lust. They came out in 2011, and I'm hoping, although it is highly unlikely, that BC will do another collab with Trickers and re-release them. Also, as someone who has several pairs of UK footwear (no C&J, though), I much prefer Dainite for practicality and wear, however, you should know that in my experience, shoes with Dainite tend to remain curled upward toward the toes (note the trickers above), whereas the shoes with leather soles tend to relax and flatten out with wear, and look much nicer overall.

stinky, I hear you on the soles. I just wouldn't buy leather soles now and prefer Dainite whenever possible. I have them on my C&Js and Tricker's, but never noticed the curve in the toes before. Tricker's (and others) also do a "Commando" sole, which is like a more discrete Vibram sole. That's a very good alternative to Dainite, albeit chunkier.

wdw , I ordered my first pair of Stows from Norse Store, and instead of sending me black calf/dainite, they sent me these which had a commando sole (that's black scotch grain with army green twill). They were as hideous in person as they look in the picture.

They're truly horrible. The soles would have been the best part.
